Help maintain the roads and infrastructure our community relies on every day. In this practical outdoor role, you will operate heavy plant and equipment while completing programmed and responsive maintenance across Wodonga’s sealed and unsealed road network.

Key aspects of the role:

Start the day ready for the job
Review the day’s work program, check site conditions and prepare the required plant, vehicles, tools and materials. Complete pre-operational inspections, confirm equipment is safe and serviceable, and discuss work priorities or emerging issues with the Roads Maintenance Coordinator and team.

Work across Wodonga’s road network
Travel to different worksites and complete programmed or responsive maintenance on sealed and unsealed roads. A typical day may involve repairing potholes and pavement, maintaining road edges and shoulders, supporting resealing or crack-sealing works, controlling dust, or clearing and maintaining drainage assets and rural culverts.

Operate plant and keep worksites safe Use heavy plant, vehicles and equipment suited to each activity while monitoring changing traffic, weather and ground conditions. Set up and follow approved worksite and traffic controls, identify hazards and adjust work methods within established procedures to protect the crew, road users and surrounding community.

Wrap up and prepare for what’s next
Check the quality and safety of completed work, clean and secure equipment, and report defects or outstanding maintenance needs. Complete timesheets, work orders, plant hire details and job records accurately, keeping the team informed so upcoming work can be scheduled and resourced effectively.
