Managing Pharmacist - Partnership Opportunity (12-18 months)

As Managing Pharmacist and incoming partner, you will hold operational control of the community pharmacy in the Bundoora area on a full-time basis. You will lead all dispensary and retail operations, maintain full compliance with the Pharmacy Board of Australia, Poisons Standard, Victorian drugs and poisons legislation, PBS requirements and all S4/S8 record-keeping obligations. You will own QCPP accreditation, maintaining standards, leading internal audits and keeping the pharmacy audit-ready at all times. You will be supported and mentored by the current owner throughout, with increasing autonomy as you demonstrate capability and with direct exposure to the financials, the P&L; and the commercial mechanics of ownership well before you buy in.

Key responsibilities

Lead all dispensary and retail operations on a full-time basis

Maintain full compliance with the Pharmacy Board of Australia, Poisons Standard, Victorian drugs and poisons legislation, PBS requirements and all S4/S8 record-keeping obligations

Own QCPP accreditation — maintaining standards, leading internal audits and keeping the pharmacy audit-ready at all times

Drive professional services: full vaccination program, DAAs, MedsChecks, HMRs, opioid dependence treatment, absence from work certificates and expanded scope consultations

Grow the pharmacy's clinical footprint under the Victorian Community Pharmacist Program

Develop niche service lines where you have interest or expertise — medicinal cannabis, compounding, men's and women's health,

chronic disease support

Manage stock control, purchasing, supplier negotiations, wholesaler relationships and gross profit performance

Recruit, roster, mentor and lead the pharmacy and retail team

Monitor the numbers — script growth, front-of-shop sales, wage-to-turnover, margin — and act on them

Build the pharmacy's profile in the local community and with referring prescribers

About you

Current AHPRA registration as a pharmacist (general registration, no conditions)

Eagerness to own and run a pharmacy full time

Full vaccination credentials, including current immunisation accreditation, anaphylaxis and CPR currency

Completed, enrolled in, or genuinely motivated to pursue an APC-accredited postgraduate Pharmacist Prescriber qualification

A drive for knowledge in areas like medicinal cannabis (SAS-B and Authorised Prescriber supply pathways, storage, record-keeping and patient counselling) or compounding, with an appetite to build these into real service lines

Sound working knowledge of QCPP, PBS claiming, S8 management and community pharmacy compliance

Commercial curiosity — you want to understand margins, wages, buying and the P&L;, not just the dispensary

Strong communicator who can lead a team and build genuine rapport with local patients

Full-time availability and a long-term commitment to the northern suburbs

About us

Established community pharmacy in a growing northern-suburbs catchment (Bundoora area), servicing a loyal local base of families, older residents and a nearby student population. Strong, stable script volume with clear room for growth in professional services. Fully QCPP accredited with well-embedded systems, SOPs and a capable support team. Pharmacy Guild of Australia (Victoria Branch) member pharmacy — including access to the Guild's Pharmacist Prescribing Training Fund, which we will sponsor you through (up to $5,000 reimbursed on successful completion, subject to the Fund's current eligibility criteria). Close relationships with surrounding medical practices, allied health and aged care. Contemporary dispensary setup and a well-merchandised retail front.

Genuine pathway to partnership within 12–18 months

Equity partnership opportunity — buy in alongside the existing owner with a realistic buy-in figure rather than the cost of an entire pharmacy

Experienced partner who stays invested in your success

Sponsorship through Pharmacist Prescribing Training Fund (up to $5,000 reimbursed on successful completion)

Mentorship and support from current owner with increasing autonomy as you demonstrate capability

Direct exposure to the financials, the P&L; and the commercial mechanics of ownership
