The Role

The Senior Manager Ethical Standards will lead the development, integration and delivery of organisational wide strategies and programs of work and initiatives that enables Fire Rescue Victoria to maintain a safe, respectful and accountable workplace culture.

Functional Accountabilities

- Promotion of positive workplace behaviours via targeted early intervention and prevention strategies
- Accountable for providing authoritative specialist technical advice to FRV Executive, Senior Leaders and P&C; professionals
- Leadership position overseeing all functions within the Ethical Standards portfolio including the provision of specialised technical and/or legal advice
- Directly influencing key organisational decisions, programs of work and direction
- Responsible for ensuring that ES functions, policy and programs are embedded and aligned throughout the organisation
- Work directly with P&C;, ELT and Senior Leaders across the whole organisation to develop awareness, capability and support the development of a safe, respectful and accountable culture.

The Team

The People and Culture Directorate takes a lead role in strategy development and implementation to enable FRV to have a safe workplace, a respectful and achievement-oriented culture, and an agile and engaged workforce. The key functions of the directorate are Human Resources Systems and Services, Health and Wellbeing, Workplace Relations and Ethical Standards, Organisational Development and Business Partnering, and Media and Communications.

What you will need to Succeed

To be successful in this position, you will be:

- Tertiary qualified in Law, Industrial Relations / Labour Law or Human Resources
- If legally qualified, should be unrestricted and not require supervision
- Significant experience in a senior position in employee/workplace relations or industrial relations, across the full range of employment matters, including investigations performance management and absence management
- Demonstrated leadership in overseeing a team performing this work
- Contemporary knowledge of employment law, with demonstrated experience and ability to interpret and apply complex industrial instruments and develop policies
- Procedures and frameworks aligning with those legislative requirements
- Experience partnering with senior leaders and influencing outcomes.

FRV’s standard practice is to appoint at the base of the salary range, however consideration will be given to an above base salary within the advertised range based on the successful candidate’s skills and experience
