Where you’ll be working
Based in the Psychiatric Emergency Care Centre you will provide specialist clinical direction within a supportive, multidisciplinary acute mental health framework . Working alongside experienced nurses, allied health professionals, and lived-experience workers, you will lead brief assessments, crisis formulation, and short-term interventions across emergency, acute short-stay, and triage environments. The department offers strong peer collaboration, predictable operational workflows, and active involvement in medical education, junior staff supervision, and service development.

Salary
Under the current NSW Staff Specialists (State) Award, the base salary range spans $197,583 to $266,942 per annum depending on experience. Package calculations include the mandatory 17.4% Special Allowance, 12% superannuation, standard leave loading, and professional development support. In addition, eligible public sector psychiatrists receive attraction and retention allowances.
The package range for this full-time position is estimated at $280,000 to $435,000 per annum, depending on years of experience.
Requirements
Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP), or equivalent.
SIMG Psychiatrists with substantial comparability from RANZCP or eligibility for the expedited registration pathway are encouraged to apply.
