Hatchery Opertive – Early Shift | Butterwick

Join the Annyalla Chicks team and play an important role in bringing healthy, high-quality day-old chicks into the world.

We are looking for a Hatchery Assistant to join our friendly and hardworking team at our Butterwick hatchery. This is a hands-on role where no two days are quite the same, supporting the hatchery management team with the day-to-day running of the facility.

You will play an important part in maintaining the highest standards of chick welfare, hygiene, biosecurity, quality and health & safety, while gaining valuable experience within the poultry industry.

What you'll be doing

- Supporting the daily production of healthy, high-quality chicks
- Assisting with chick take-off and grading
- Monitoring hygiene and maintaining excellent biosecurity standards
- Keeping hatchery areas clean, protected and tidy
- Following animal welfare and health & safety procedures
- Working closely with the hatchery management team
- Learning about poultry and hatchery operations
- Taking part in training and development to build your skills and knowledge
- Supporting the team with other hatchery duties when required

The role

This is a physically demanding, hands-on role.

You will be on your feet for much of the working day and the role involves lifting, carrying and moving items, including some heavier loads. A good level of physical fitness and the ability to safely undertake manual handling activities is therefore required.

The position is an early shift, working from 2:30am until 11:00am.

The role is 5 days per week, Monday to Saturday, with the working days varying depending on hatchery production requirements. Saturday working is currently on an ad-hoc basis but is becoming increasingly required, so flexibility to work Saturdays is essential.

What we're looking for

We're looking for someone who is reliable, hardworking and keen to learn. You don't need previous hatchery experience – full training will be provided for the right person.

Previous production, agricultural or poultry experience would be an advantage

Why join Annyalla Chicks?

This is a fantastic opportunity to learn new skills, develop within the poultry industry and become an important part of a growing business. Full training and support will be provided, making this an ideal role for someone looking to build a long-term career in hatchery operations.
