Lead the people, systems and standards that keep Council's workplaces safe, welcoming, and ready for the day!
Key points:
- Permanent full time opportunity | 10 day fortnight
- Work alongside a high performing and supportive team
- Help shape Council's security services through leadership
Salary from: Stream A Level 4.1 ($98k/year) + superannuation
Logan City Council is looking for a practical, people-focused Security Team Leader to guide our dedicated security team and help shape the way protective security is delivered across the City Administration Centre precinct.
About the role
As Security Team Leader, you will coordinate daily security coverage, lead and support a dedicated team, and strengthen the procedures, records and governance that support effective security operations. You will work across access control, visitor management, CCTV and alarm escalation, patrols, duress response, opening and lock-up activities, incident response, emergency support, contractor performance, and security service improvement.
This is a hands‑on leadership role for someone who understands that great security is more than rosters, patrols, and systems. It is about visible leadership, calm decision‑making, clear standards, strong relationships and creating a safe, welcoming, and well‑managed environment.
In this role, you will help create that consistency by bringing together people, processes, systems, and service standards so Council's facilities remain safe, accessible, and operationally ready. This is an opportunity to lead a visible frontline function, influence how security services are planned and delivered, and contribute to a modern, risk‑based, and customer‑focused security operating model for Council.
What you will bring:
- Experience leading security operations, security teams, or public‑facing service delivery in a complex environment.
- A calm, confident and practical leadership style, with the ability to set expectations, support staff and make sound decisions under pressure.
- Strong working knowledge of access control, incident reporting, patrols, visitor management,
contractor access, alarm response, and emergency support arrangements.
- The ability to build productive relationships with staff, contractors, service providers, and internal stakeholders.
- A service mindset that balances safety, compliance, public access, and a welcoming environment.
Requirements:
To be considered for and employed in this position, applicants must satisfactorily complete the following pre‑employment screening checks, as applicable:
- Work Rights
- Satisfactory references
- Functional Capacity Evaluation
- Possession of a current "C" class driver's licence
- Security Licence
To be employed in this position applicants must undergo additional employment‑related background check/s (other than past employment reference checking) and be assessed as suitable to be able to ethically perform the inherent requirements of this position. This will include:
- National Police History Check - Ongoing checks required
