About the role
The City of Salisbury is seeking an experienced and motivated Painting Supervisor to join the Building Maintenance team within City Infrastructure.
Reporting to the Coordinator Building Maintenance, you will provide day-to-day leadership, coordination and technical expertise across painting, graffiti removal and building maintenance activities. You will support the planning and delivery of maintenance programs, supervise contractors, coordinate resources and ensure works are completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
Working closely with staff, contractors, volunteers and stakeholders, you will help deliver quality maintenance outcomes while fostering a positive, customer-focused and safety-driven culture.
Your key responsibilities will include
- Coordinate and schedule painting, graffiti removal and building maintenance activities.
- Provide day-to-day leadership, guidance and support to team members.
- Assist in the planning and delivery of planned and reactive maintenance programs.
- Supervise contractors and monitor performance against service and contractual requirements.
- Undertake inspections to ensure works are completed safely and to required standards.
- Coordinate resources, materials and equipment to support efficient service delivery.
- Provide technical advice relating to painting and building maintenance activities.
- Maintain accurate records of labour, equipment, materials and maintenance activities.
- Respond to customer enquiries and support positive community outcomes.
- Promote a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork and continuous improvement.
About you
You are an experienced painting qualified with strong leadership skills and a passion for delivering quality outcomes.
You enjoy coordinating people and resources, building positive working relationships and leading by example. You are organised, practical and able to balance hands-on operational requirements with planning and coordination responsibilities.
You will also have
- Trade qualification in Painting and Decorating, or significant relevant industry experience.
- Demonstrated experience supervising or leading teams within a painting, maintenance or facilities environment.
- Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience coordinating maintenance programs,
contractors and work schedules.
- Ability to interpret plans, specifications and technical documentation.
- Experience using asset management systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong planning, problem-solving and organisational skills.
- Ability to use initiative and make sound operational decisions.
- Current Class C Driver's Licence.
- Certificate IV in Leadership and Management or equivalent qualification (Desirable)
- Experience managing service contracts and contractor performance (Desirable)
- Experience working within Local Government or a similar service delivery environment (Desirable)
