Senior Finance Lead (Regional Western Victoria)
The Role
This is a senior, hands-on financial accounting opportunity within a large and multifaceted organisation. Reporting directly to the CFO, the role will take ownership of financial accounting, compliance, audit coordination, financial controls and the integrity of reporting across the organisation.
You will work closely with senior finance and operational stakeholders, providing accurate advice, strengthening processes and ensuring financial information is reliable, timely and fit for decision-making.
This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced finance professional who enjoys operating close to the detail while also influencing broader improvements across systems, controls and reporting.
Key responsibilities include:
- Ensuring the accuracy, integrity and timeliness of financial information
- Leading month-end financial accounting activities, including journals, accruals and balance sheet reconciliations
- Overseeing asset accounting, including reconciliations, additions, disposals and revaluations
- Coordinating internal and external audit activities and responding to reporting requirements
- Preparing statutory, regulatory and government financial reporting
- Monitoring financial controls and identifying risks, system gaps and process improvements
- Supporting capital budgeting, cash flow oversight and financial analysis
- Preparing clear reports, briefs, policies and advice for senior stakeholders
- Contributing to annual budgeting, finance risk management and performance reporting
- Building effective relationships across finance, operations and external stakeholders
The Candidate
You are an experienced financial accounting skilled with strong technical capability and a practical, hands-on approach.
You are comfortable working in a complex environment, managing competing deadlines and translating detailed financial information into clear advice.
You will bring:
- CPA or CA qualification, supported by relevant tertiary qualifications
- Strong experience across financial accounting, statutory reporting, audit and compliance
- Demonstrated ownership of balance sheet reconciliations and financial control frameworks
- Experience within a large, complex or highly regulated organisation
- Strong analytical, written communication and stakeholder management skills
- The ability to identify issues, improve processes and deliver accurate outcomes within tight timeframes
- Advanced Microsoft Excel capability; exposure to Power BI and enterprise financial systems will be advantageous
Experience in a public sector, healthcare, community services or similarly regulated environment would be well regarded, but is not essential.
