About the role

The Corporate Affairs Officer sits within the Corporate Affairs team in the Communications branch and offers an exciting prospect to help shape how the City of Melbourne communicates with its people, community and broader audiences.

Working across a mix of internal and external channels, you will create engaging, high-quality content and help identify stories and opportunities that showcase the work of the City of Melbourne. This could include developing corporate stories, e-newsletters, social media content and videos, as well as capturing content at major events and media opportunities.

You'll also support communications planning, reporting and priority activities across the team, working closely with colleagues and stakeholders across the organisation.

A little more about the role

Create, write and edit engaging content for a range of internal and external channels, including corporate stories, e-newsletters, social media, media content and video

Capture and produce digital content through basic photography, videography and video editing

Support communications planning and help identify timely stories, content opportunities and priority communications activities

Assist with communications reporting, events and broader Corporate Affairs activities, ensuring content is accurate, accessible and aligned with City of Melbourne standards.

About you

You are a confident communicator and storyteller who enjoys finding the interesting angle and turning ideas into engaging content. You're comfortable working across different channels and audiences, can manage competing priorities and bring a collaborative, proactive approach to your work.

What your experience might look like

A relevant qualification in communications, journalism, media or public relations, or equivalent relevant experience.

Strong writing and storytelling skills, with the ability to tailor content for different audiences and channels.

Experience creating engaging digital content, including basic photography, videography and video editing using Adobe Premiere Pro and/or in-app editing tools.

Strong organisational and prioritisation skills, with experience managing multiple deadlines and competing priorities.

Demonstrated ability to collaborate,



build strong working relationships and provide high-quality support and customer service.
