Early Childhood Road Safety Education Consultant

- Salary Package: Competitive salary plus 12% super
- Appointment Type: Full-time (37.5 hours per week), fixed-term appointment until December 2027.

The Kids and Traffic Early Childhood Road Safety Education Program is seeking an enthusiastic and capable Early Childhood Road Safety Education Consultant to deliver professional development, provide expert advice, and support education and care services across NSW to implement best-practice road safety education.

About the Role

You will work with educators, service leaders, families, tertiary institutions, and community stakeholders to promote high-quality road safety education for young children. Through workshops, tailored support, community projects, and stakeholder engagement, you will contribute to improved road safety outcomes for children and families across NSW.

This is an exciting opportunity to combine your early childhood expertise with adult learning and community engagement while contributing to a well-established statewide program.

The Kids and Traffic Program is funded as a partnership between Transport for NSW and Macquarie University. The role is initially available from 1st February 2027 to December 2027. Further employment may be available depending on funding.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop, deliver and coordinate professional development workshops for early childhood education and care services, outside school hours care services, and tertiary education providers.
- Provide tailored road safety education support,



leadership, and expert advice to the early childhood sector.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with educators, service leaders, and community stakeholders.
- Lead and support community-based projects that address local road safety issues and improve outcomes for children and families.
- Contribute to resource development, program initiatives, and team projects.
- Support the effective operation and success of the Kids and Traffic Program through ongoing administration and stakeholder engagement activities.

About You

You are a motivated and experienced early childhood professional who enjoys supporting others to achieve best practice. You have excellent communication skills, strong initiative, and the ability to build productive relationships across diverse communities and settings.

Key Selection Criteria

- Four-year Early Childhood Education degree, or equivalent ACECQA approved teaching qualification,




- Demonstrated success in teaching and leading people and programs in early childhood education and care services,
- Strong understanding of the diversity of early childhood education and care settings and current sector influences,
- Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team,
- Experience initiating and implementing projects with minimal supervision,
- Highly developed written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills,
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications and the ability to use digital technology to support teaching and learning, and
- Ability to think creatively and develop practical strategies for young children, families, and educators.

In addition, a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or a willingness to obtain is desirable.

Other Role Requirements

- Ability to travel throughout Greater Sydney and regional NSW, including overnight travel, evening workshops, and weekend work when and as required.
- Current Working with Children Check.

Note: The successful applicant will be required to complete a medical assessment, demerit point check and a Police Check.
