We are a growing Queensland marine construction company delivering major projects throughout South East Queensland. Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Marine Supervisor to lead our vessel crews and coordinate secure, efficient marine construction operations.
About the role
This hands-on role is responsible for daily vessel activities, marine works, crew performance, maintenance coordination, safety compliance and environmental management. You will work closely with the Construction Manager, project teams, clients and contractors to ensure operations are delivered safely and effectively.
Key responsibilities
- Supervise marine construction and vessel operations, including piling, lifting, vessel movements, loading and maintenance activities
- Lead and coordinate vessel crews, ensuring safe manning, competency and fitness for work
- Plan daily activities, allocate resources and coordinate operational schedule
- Ensure compliance with Marine Structures' QMS and WHS requirements, vessel Safety Management Systems, AMSA obligations and marine regulations
- Verify vessels, plant, equipment and PPE are inspected, fit for purpose and operated by competent personnel
- Report and investigate hazards, near misses, incidents and non-conformances
- Coordinate vessel maintenance, inspections and repairs with the Maintenance Manager
- Manage environmental risks associated with marine construction, refuelling, maintenance and work near sensitive marine areas
- Oversee pollution prevention, spill response, waste management and worksite housekeeping
- Coach and mentor crew members while promoting safety, teamwork and accountability
About you
- You will be an experienced marine professional with strong leadership skills, sound technical knowledge and a practical approach to delivering safe marine operations.
- At least 10 years' experience in marine operations, marine construction or a related field
- A minimum Master Class 5 qualification and MED III
- Sound knowledge of AMSA regulations and vessel Safety Management Systems
- Strong knowledge of workplace health and safety, risk assessment and incident reporting requirements
- Experience supervising marine construction, piling or lifting activities
- Demonstrated ability to lead, train and motivate vessel crews
- The ability to read and interpret layout drawings and specifications
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- A current White Card
- Current First Aid and CPR certification
- A current manual driver's licence.
