Dutues & Responsibilities

- Assist the surgeon with clinical examination of eyes, including patient eye pressures, visual acuity, corneal topography and refraction.
- Pre-Cataract Assessment including calculating IOL Power and ordering of lenses
- Preoperative Pentacam
- Assist the surgeon in refractive surgical procedures including PRESBYOND, SMILE, LASIK and PRK
- Evaluate Strabismus / Squints
- Act as patient screener / advisor, providing guidance about the different types of refractive surgery available.

Essential Requirements

- Be proficient in the programming, operation and ongoing management of Zeiss Visumax platform and MEL90 Excimer laser.
- Be fully conversant with Pachymetry and Perimetry (HUMPHERY) perimeters.
- Function in a highly organized, and time efficient manner at all times.
- Be able to problem solve in a surgical setting, meeting surgery timelines and carrying out required tasks.
- Assisting the Surgeon to create, define, refine and manage Refractive protocols, procedures and workflows.Ensure all specialist medical services are delivered in a smooth and efficient manner.
- Assist the Surgeon with clinical examination of Eyes, including patient eye pressures, Visual acuity, Corneal Topography and refraction

Qualification & experience





- Relevant qualification at the level of a diploma or higher.
- Minimum two years' experience required.
- Experience with cloud based patient management / practice management software or similar medical practice software.
- A well-developed knowledge base of Private billing for consultations and surgical procedures.
- Must have proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Demonstrated outstanding customer service and people skills.
- The ability to relate well to patients and communicate with health care professionals/external health facilities as needed.
- Demonstrate a high level of motivation and operate in cooperation with a surgical team with attention to detail.
- Demonstrate an ability to multi-task within a fast-paced working setting. There is a high degree of patient admin.
- Be able to take direction.
- Work unsupervised and under own initiative.
