- FULL TIME POSITION
LOKHA is seeking a skilled, reliable and experienced Cook to join our kitchen team at our restaurant. This is a full-time ongoing position of 38 hours per week, based in Beaconsfield NSW 2015. Pay: $79,500 to $82,000 plus superannuation.
ABOUT US LOKHA is a Vietnamese fusion restaurant located on Botany Road, Alexandria, close to Green Square. We are known for our fresh, made-to-order food, bold Vietnamese-inspired flavours and modern take on classic dishes. Our menu includes bánh mì, pho, Vietnamese-style tacos, burgers, noodle and vermicelli salads, rice dishes and other signature LOKHA creations.
We also provide catering and function services for corporate events, private celebrations and special occasions. At LOKHA, we pride ourselves on quality food, consistency, fresh ingredients and friendly service. ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Cook at LOKHA, you will play an important hands-on role in preparing and delivering high-quality food during daily service, as well as assisting with catering and function requirements. You will work closely with our Chefs and kitchen team to ensure food is prepared efficiently, consistently and to LOKHA’s standards. KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Cook will be responsible for:
- Preparing, cooking and presenting a variety of Vietnamese fusion dishes in accordance with LOKHA recipes and menu specifications;
- Preparing food for restaurant, takeaway, catering and private function services;
- Examining food and ingredients to ensure freshness, quality and suitability for preparation and consumption;
- Preparing ingredients by washing, cleaning, cutting, chopping, slicing, marinating, seasoning, measuring and portioning;
- Preparing and cooking meat,
poultry, seafood, vegetables, noodles, rice and other ingredients using appropriate cooking techniques;
- Operating commercial kitchen equipment, including grills, fryers, ovens, cooktops, rice cookers and food preparation equipment;
- Regulating cooking temperatures and cooking times to ensure food is prepared safely and to the required quality standards;
- Preparing sauces, marinades, dressings, stocks and other components used in LOKHA dishes;
- Following established recipes, preparation methods and portion-control requirements to maintain consistency;
- Portioning and presenting dishes with appropriate sauces, garnishes and accompaniments;
- Preparing vegetarian, vegan and other dietary-specific meals, including meals for customers with allergies and food intolerances;
- Coordinating food preparation and cooking during busy service periods to ensure orders are completed accurately and within required timeframes;
- Monitoring food quality throughout preparation and service and making adjustments where required;
- Checking stock levels and assisting with ordering and receiving food supplies;
- Storing, labelling, dating and rotating food products appropriately in accordance with food safety requirements;
- Maintaining appropriate storage temperatures and ensuring food is handled in accordance with food safety legislation;
- Assisting with stock control and minimising food waste through appropriate preparation,
storage and portion-control practices;
- Maintaining a clean, organised and hygienic kitchen and food preparation areas;
- Cleaning and maintaining kitchen equipment and work areas;
- Complying with all relevant food safety, hygiene and
Work Health & Safety requirements; and
- Working cooperatively with other kitchen and front-of-house staff to ensure smooth and efficient restaurant and catering operations.
SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE The successful applicant will be expected to possess:
- AQF Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or a related qualification, or at least three years of relevant employment experience in lieu of formal qualifications;
- At least one year of relevant experience working as a Cook in a commercial kitchen, restaurant or similar hospitality environment;
- Demonstrated experience preparing and cooking a range of dishes in accordance with recipes and established quality standards;
- Experience with Vietnamese, Asian or fusion cuisine will be highly regarded;
- Knowledge of commercial cooking methods, food preparation techniques and kitchen operations;
- Experience using commercial kitchen equipment and appliances;
- Knowledge of food safety, hygiene and safe food-handling practices;
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced commercial kitchen;
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple orders during busy service periods;
- Strong organisational and time-management skills;
- Ability to follow recipes, preparation procedures and portion-control requirements;
- Robust attention to food quality, consistency and presentation;
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team;
- Reliability, punctuality and a positive attitude; and
- Genuine passion for cooking and the hospitality industry.
