The Role
Joint Capabilities Group (JCG), ICT Operations Division (ICTOD) is seeking a highly motivated professional leader with recent experience in providing strong proactive leadership in an ICT Service Delivery workplace within a large diverse organisation.
This position leads a small team of ICT professionals ICT support to the Departments Ministers, Service Chiefs and Senior Executive Service Officers.
The VIP ICT Support Team operate in a fast-paced high exposure environment where demands on attention to detail and agility are of exceptional quality. Applicants will need to demonstrate a high level of resilience and attention to detail.
The successful applicant will be responsible for managing allocated resources, setting work area priorities, managing workflows, developing strategies and evaluating business outcomes. This will include the development, implementation, compliance with and review of policies and procedures.
Defence roles cover a diverse range of workplace environment requirements. These may include physical tasks or working in conditions that are not typical of an office environment. About our Team
The Directorate of Regional ICT Services (DRICTS) acts as the Joint Capabilities Group (JCG) representative for all ICT products and services delivered to Defence regional bases and sites across Australia and internationally. The Directorate is specifically responsible for Deskside Support Services, Audio Visual Support Services, End User Advocacy and Relationships, Regional Project Support, Communications Security Services (COMSEC) and Regional Assurance and Governance Services.
Our team comprises a mix of Australian Public Service (APS), Australian Defence Force (ADF) and Contracted personnel located across approximately 56 major Defence bases Australia wide. We also have an Overseas Region where opportunity exists for APS to rotate through the United States of America and England.

Our Ideal Candidate
The Assistant Director VIP ICT Support will have a high-level stakeholder engagement and will be required to identify relevant stakeholder expectations and deliver services to develop a clear understanding of the methodology and practices to achieve outcomes. They are accountable under broad direction to undertake complex ICT service provision activities. They will work independently having some authority and discretion to investigate information from diverse sources and explore innovative approaches to support the longer-term business objectives and stakeholders. They will have to be confident in problem solving solutions and present business cases that are outside BAU, work practices and procedures; yet remain in accordance with Defence's mission and business objectives.
The VIP ICT Support function is fast-paced and outcome driven.
The Assistant Director will need to be able to rapidly drive solutions and prioritise workloads, which are provided directly from the customer.
They will plan, implement and review ICT provisions in order to meet demanding customer requirements and may be involved in the ongoing management of operational facilities, ICT conferencing solutions and ad-hoc VIP ICT requests.
The Assistant Director will use their initiative and experience to analyse, plan, review and adjust priorities and work activities to meet business outcomes. They will undertake objective, systematic analysis and draw accurate conclusions based on evidence providing detailed technical, operational, professional and procedural advice in relation to complex service level agreement and supplier management activities.

Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at “Negative Vetting Level 2”.
