We are seeking a compassionate, experienced and student-focused Guidance Officer to join our team and provide high-quality support to students across academic, social, emotional and wellbeing needs. The successful applicant will work collaboratively with students, families, teachers, school leaders and external services to identify individual needs, provide counselling and guidance, support student engagement and inclusion, and contribute to positive educational outcomes. This is a temporary part-time position (0.6FTE or 60.5 hours per fortnight) until 11 December 2026, unless otherwise determined.

About the Role

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:





- Provide student support and counselling by advocating for students and delivering individualised counselling, psychoeducational assessment, guidance and recommendations across educational, behavioural, social, emotional, mental health, career and family matters.
- Assess student needs and develop targeted interventions through observation, assessment and collaboration with school staff to identify learning, developmental, behavioural and wellbeing needs, and develop appropriate adjustments, support plans and interventions.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary support and referrals by working collaboratively with students, families, teachers, school leadership and external agencies to provide effective case management, referrals and coordinated support that promotes student engagement and access to education.
- Support student wellbeing, protection and pathways by contributing to student protection, behaviour support, risk management and critical incident responses, as well as supporting career development, SET planning, transitions, alternative education pathways and reintegration into mainstream schooling.
- Maintain professional practice and confidentiality by ensuring accurate and compliant record keeping, managing privacy and information-sharing requirements, participating in professional development, and providing advice, training and skill development to teachers, administrators and parents.
