Burton, SA | Full-time | Business development and branch leadershipOur client is a well-established Australian modular construction and manufacturing business delivering building solutions across mining and resources, government, defence, education, health, commercial and community projects.With integrated design, manufacturing, transport and installation capability, they provide modular and transportable buildings for both sale and hire.With consistent growth over many years and a strong pipeline across NT, WA, QLD and beyond, they have recently expanded into South Australia and are seeking a Business Development Manager to grow their South Australian business and lead their Burton branch.This is an opportunity for an experienced sales and people leader who enjoys building relationships, winning work and taking responsibility for commercial performance.About the roleReporting to the Chief Operating Officer, you will identify new opportunities, develop existing accounts and convert enquiries and tenders into profitable sales and hire contracts.You will take ownership of the branch's sales pipeline, quoting, pricing and client relationships, while leading the branch team and overseeing day-to-day performance.Working closely with Estimating, Design, Commercial, Finance and Operations, you will ensure proposals are accurately scoped, commercially sound and aligned with the business's capacity to manufacture, deliver and install.The role combines time in the market with practical branch leadership.
You will engage with clients, visit project sites, develop proposals and guide your team through the priorities required to win and deliver work successfully.Key responsibilitiesIdentify and pursue new clients,
projects and markets across South AustraliaBuild relationships with mining and resources companies, government agencies, head contractors, builders, architects and project developersDevelop and manage a strong sales pipeline through prospecting, networking, client visits and tender opportunitiesPrepare and present tailored proposals, quotations and tender submissions for modular building sales and hireOwn the quoting process, working with Estimating and Design to clarify scope, inclusions, exclusions and delivery requirementsNegotiate pricing and commercial terms within approved authority, identifying and escalating contractual and project risksTake responsibility for branch sales targets, revenue, gross margin, cost control and forecastingLead, coach and manage the branch team, including sales, quoting support, administration and yard/operations staffOversee branch resourcing, the yard and hire/display buildings, and coordinate clear handovers to OperationsMaintain accurate CRM records and reporting, improve sales and quoting processes, and uphold safety and quality standardsWhat we are looking forYou will bring demonstrated success in business development, B2B sales or account management within construction, mining services or a related industry, together with experience leading a team or branch.You will ideally have:A track record of winning new business and meeting or exceeding sales targetsStrong commercial judgement across pricing, margins,
costs and contract termsExperience preparing quotations, proposals and tender submissionsThe ability to understand client requirements and work with technical specialists to develop practical solutionsConfident negotiation and relationship-building skills, from site teams through to senior decision-makersA disciplined approach to pipeline management, follow‐up, forecasting and CRM systemsStrong people leadership, with transparent expectations and a practical approach to performance and accountabilityExperience in modular or transportable buildings, an established South Australian network, and familiarity with construction programs, site works and building compliance would be advantageous.
