The OpportunityAn established and growing Sydney mechanical contractor is looking for an experienced HVAC Site Manager to take ownership of the day-to-day delivery of mechanical projects across Sydney.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a successful, privately owned HVAC business delivering approximately $15m-$20m of work annually, with a strong pipeline of commercial and residential mechanical projects generally ranging from $500k to $5m.
The business operates with a close-knit team of approximately 30 people and has built a strong reputation around technical capability, project delivery and long-term client relationships.
Culture is important here.
They are looking for someone who is technically capable but equally approachable, communicative and comfortable working as part of a close team.
This is not a role for someone who wants to sit behind a desk.
You will be highly visible across the company's projects, working closely with Project Managers, site teams, subcontractors and builders to ensure projects run smoothly. The RoleAs Site Manager, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day site delivery of multiple mechanical/HVAC projects.
You will act as a key link between the company's Project Managers and site teams, identifying and resolving issues at site level before they become larger project problems.Your responsibilities will include:Overseeing mechanical/HVAC construction activities across multiple sitesActing as a key point of contact for site teams, builders and subcontractorsCoordinating trades and ensuring different elements of the mechanical package work togetherManaging site programmes, sequencing and day-to-day construction prioritiesIdentifying technical,

installation and constructability issues before they impact programme or costCoordinating ductwork, refrigeration, pipework, electrical and controls/BMS interfacesConducting toolbox talks, pre-starts and site meetingsManaging site labour and subcontractor performanceMonitoring quality, safety and progressReviewing mechanical drawings and construction requirementsSupporting testing, commissioning, defects and project handoverEscalating major commercial or programme issues to the Project Manager while taking ownership of day-to-day site mattersHelping Project Managers remain focused on commercial management, clients and overall project performanceWhat We're Looking ForThe most important requirement is broad mechanical/HVAC construction knowledge.
We are not looking for someone whose experience has been limited exclusively to ductwork or sheet metal installation.
You should understand how the complete mechanical system comes together on a construction project, with exposure across areas such as: Refrigeration, Chilled-water systems and pipework, Condenser-water systems, Ductwork and ventilation, AHUs and FCUs, VRV/VRF and packaged equipment, Mechanical electrical interfaces, BMS and controls, Testing and commissioning, Mechanical construction sequencing and coordination.
You may already be working as a Mechanical Site Manager,

or you could be an experienced HVAC Site Supervisor ready to step into a broader Site Manager position.
A trade background in Air Conditioning & Refrigeration would be highly regarded, but it is not essential.
What matters more is your ability to understand the complete mechanical package and confidently manage its delivery on site. You will ideally have:Strong commercial construction experience within HVAC/mechanical servicesExperience supervising complete mechanical packages rather than one individual tradeStrong understanding of HVAC systems and how different mechanical trades interfaceExperience managing tradespeople and subcontractorsConfidence dealing directly with builders, Project Managers and site stakeholdersStrong problem-solving ability and the confidence to make decisions on siteGood understanding of construction programmes, drawings, quality and safetyExperience with testing, commissioning and handoverStrong communication and people-management skillsWhy Join?
This is an chance to join a successful mechanical contractor where you will have genuine responsibility and direct access to senior management.
The business is large enough to deliver substantial $500k-$5m mechanical projects, but remains small enough that good people have a real impact on how projects and the wider business perform.
You will join a friendly, close-knit environment where people communicate openly, work collaboratively and are trusted to take ownership.
If you're an experienced HVAC Site Supervisor who feels ready to step up, or an established Mechanical Site Manager looking for a business where you can take greater ownership, we'd be interested in speaking with you.
