Senior Litigation Associate - IP, Media & DefamationAn excellent prospect has arisen for an experienced Senior Litigation Associate to join a highly regarded specialist commercial law firm in Sydney.Our client is a boutique Australian commercial law firm of approximately 35 staff, specialising in intellectual property, technology and media law.
The firm offers sophisticated, high-quality work within a collaborative, professional and friendly environment.This is an opportunity to work closely with experienced Partners on complex and often high-profile disputes, while enjoying genuine autonomy, direct client contact and the opportunity to further develop your expertise across IP, media and commercial litigation.The RoleAs a Senior Associate, you will take ownership of a range of complex litigation matters from initial advice through to resolution, settlement or hearing.Your work will include:Intellectual property litigationDefamation and reputational disputesMedia litigationBroader commercial disputesDeveloping case strategy alongside Partners and clientsDrafting pleadings, affidavits, submissions and evidenceManaging discovery, interlocutory applications and hearing preparationBriefing and working closely with Counsel and expertsAttending court,



mediations and settlement conferencesProviding commercial and strategic advice directly to clientsYou will have meaningful involvement in case strategy and client relationships rather than simply being responsible for execution.About YouYou will ideally have 5–7 years PQE with experience in commercial litigation, intellectual property litigation, media litigation or a closely related disputes practice.You will also bring:Experience in one or more of defamation, media disputes or intellectual property litigationStrong litigation and dispute resolution skillsExcellent drafting and written communication skillsConfidence managing matters and communicating directly with sophisticated clientsStrong commercial judgement and a practical approach to dispute resolutionThe ability to work autonomously while collaborating closely with PartnersA current Australian practising certificateThis is an excellent opportunity for a Senior Associate looking to move into a specialist practice where they can work on challenging, high-quality disputes while having genuine visibility and influence within the team.
