About the Opportunity
We are seeking experienced Consultant Psychiatrists for three locum opportunities within Mental Health Alcohol and Other Drugs (MHAOD), Central Australia Region, based in Alice Springs. These opportunities offer the chance to contribute to essential mental health services across adult inpatient, community, sub-acute and crisis care settings.
The successful candidates will join multidisciplinary teams delivering high-quality psychiatric assessment, treatment and clinical care to patients across Central Australia.
Available Positions
1. Consultant Psychiatrist – Adult Inpatient (MHU) Dates: 30 November 2026 – 26 February 2027
- $350 per hour (equivalent to $2,800 per day, based on 8 paid hours)
- $10 per hour for on-call availability
- $350 per hour for call-back duties
- Accommodation costs covered for the duration of the locum placement
- Return economy airfares to Alice Springs reimbursed
- Access to an NT Government vehicle after hours
- Potential for contract extensions and future locum opportunities in Alice Springs
Working Hours
- Full time engagement
- Standard hours: 8:00 am – 4:30 pm
- Occasional after-hours on-call responsibilities
Essential Requirements
To be considered for these opportunities, applicants must have:
- Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP)
- Current AHPRA registration
- Current NT Working with Children Card, or the ability to obtain one
- National Police Check (NPC) dated within six months of contract commencement, issued by State/Territory Police or the Australian Federal Police
- Completed and signed VPDIC form, or the ability to obtain one
- Current RANZCP Supervisor accreditation, or the ability to obtain accreditation (support may be available on site)
