Details: Transport Canberra is seeking to fill the role of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Bus Coordinator for up to three (3) months with the possibility of extension and/or permanency. We’re looking for people who are passionate about supporting their community through accessible and inclusive transport services. As the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Bus Coordinator, you will play a vital role in connecting community members with cultural, social, sporting and support activities, helping reduce barriers to participation and social isolation

About the Role

Working within the Flexible Transport Office, you will:

- Coordinate the day-to-day operation of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Bus service.
- Manage bookings and customer enquiries.
- Drive community bus services when required.
- Build strong relationships with Elders, community organisations and stakeholders.
- Promote the service and identify opportunities to support vulnerable community members.
- Assist the broader Flexible Transport Office team with other duties as required, which may include office-based functions or driving duties.

Eligibility/Other Requirements:

This is an Identified position in accordance with Section 27(4) of the Public Sector Management Act 1994 and is only open to an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person.



This role has been declared Identified to support equitable employment opportunities by increasing access to employment and promoting a diverse and representative workforce. Confirmation of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander heritage may be requested.

The successful applicant will hold, or be willing to obtain:

- First Aid certificate
- Working With Vulnerable People (WWVP) registration. For further information on Working with Vulnerable People registration refer to - Apply for or renew a WWVP registration - Access Canberra
- Medium Rigid (MR) Driver Licence or above.
- Public Vehicle Driver Authority.

Note: This is a temporary position available immediately for three months with the possibility of extension and/or permanency. This position is only open to an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person.

A merit list will be created and may be used to fill identical vacancies.
