Your new role
Whether you're building your payroll career or looking to step into a leadership position, there are opportunities available across APS4, APS5 and APS6 levels.
As an APS4 Payroll Officer, you will:
- Provide first-point payroll support to employees and managers
- Respond to enquiries relating to pay, leave and employment conditions
- Process payroll transactions and maintain employee records
- Assist staff with payroll self-service functions and systems
- Manage helpdesk requests and escalate complex matters where required
- Contribute to the delivery of accurate, timely and professional payroll services
As an APS5 Senior Payroll Officer, you will:
- Manage more complex payroll enquiries and transactions
- Validate payroll calculations and undertake quality assurance activities
- Support and coach junior team members
- Maintain payroll procedures, work instructions and knowledge articles
- Liaise with stakeholders to resolve payroll issues
- Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes and service delivery
As an APS6 Payroll Team Leader, you will:
- Lead the day-to-day operations of the Payroll Helpdesk
- Allocate, monitor and manage team workloads and service delivery
- Oversee complex payroll processing and compliance activities
- Act as the first escalation point for payroll enquiries
- Coach,
mentor and develop team members
- Drive process improvements and contribute to operational reporting and planning
What you'll need to succeed
- Must be an Australian citizen
To be successful, you'll bring:
- Previous payroll experience within a complex organisation
- Strong customer service and stakeholder engagement skills
- Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy
- Ability to interpret policies, procedures and employment conditions
- Strong problem-solving and organisational skills
- Experience using payroll systems, ideally Aurion or a similar HR/payroll platform
- The ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
For APS5 and APS6 opportunities, experience managing complex payroll matters, coaching staff or leading operational activities will be highly regarded. What you'll get in return
