TWO ROLES - APS5 PROJECT OFFICER & APS6 SENIOR PROJECT OFFICER – FEDERAL GOVT | PUBLIC HEALTH
CS Executive Group is seeking an experienced Project Officer and a Senior Project Officer for two long-term contract opportunities with a Federal Government agency, supporting nationally significant public health programs.
These are excellent opportunities for experienced project professionals, particularly those with exposure to scientific, public health or technical environments, who enjoy working in complex, stakeholder-focused settings and would value contributing to important national public health initiatives.
We are recruiting two roles:
- APS5 Project Officer – equivalent
- APS6 Senior Project Officer – equivalent
Contract: 30 November 2026 to 30 June 2028, with potential extension of up to 12 months Location: Phillip, ACT
Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week
Work arrangements: On-site (other arrangements may be available by agreement)
Security: Baseline security clearance or the ability to obtain one
About the Opportunities
Working within a specialist team, both positions will contribute to the effective delivery and ongoing operation of national public health surveillance programs. The work brings together project and program coordination, stakeholder engagement, contracts and procurement, data governance, reporting and operational support.
APS5 Project Officer
The APS5 Project Officer will work closely with the Program Manager and Senior Project Officer to support the day-to-day operation and administration of the programs.
Responsibilities will include:
- Supporting project and program activities
- Coordinating internal and external stakeholders
- Assisting with contracts, procurement and related administration
- Supporting data governance and data request processes
- Coordinating reporting, publications and communications
- Supporting dashboard and analytics activities
- Providing secretariat,
operational and administrative support
- Helping maintain effective program resources and processes
APS6 Senior Project Officer
The APS6 Senior Project Officer will work closely with the Program Manager and take greater ownership of end-to-end project and contract management, stakeholder engagement, data governance, reporting and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities will include:
- Coordinating and managing project and program activities
- Supporting the management of service provider and ICT contracts
- Coordinating stakeholders and participating organisations
- Supporting onboarding and ongoing participation of contributing laboratories
- Managing data access, governance and data request processes
- Coordinating reports, dashboards and analytics activities
- Maintaining operational resources and supporting user access
- Supporting continuous improvement across program delivery
About You
We are looking for capable project professionals who can operate effectively within a Federal Government, technical or similarly complex setting. Depending on the level, you may bring experience across:
- Project or program coordination and delivery
- Stakeholder engagement and relationship management
- Contract and procurement administration
- Governance and documentation
- Data governance or data management
- Reporting, publications and communications
- Secretariat and operational support
- Working with technical or multidisciplinary stakeholders
- Managing multiple priorities and deadlines
For the APS6 Senior Project Officer,
we are particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate greater autonomy and ownership across project delivery, contracts, stakeholder coordination and governance.
Highly Desirable
Qualifications, knowledge or experience in public health, microbiology and/or laboratory environments will be highly regarded for both opportunities. Experience working with scientific or technical data, laboratories, reporting programs or public health surveillance would also be relevant to the nature of the work.
