Hindmarsh is looking for an Assistant Accountant to join our Finance team in Canberra and support the financial operations of our business on a fixed term 12-month contract to cover for maternity leave.
This is a great opportunity for an early-career accountant who is looking to build on their experience and develop a broad foundation in financial accounting within a large and diverse Australian business.
Reporting to the Senior Accountant, you will be involved across month-end and year-end processes, financial reporting, compliance, reconciliations and forecasting, while working closely with experienced Finance professionals who will support your continued development.
You will be responsible for:
- Supporting month-end and year-end processes, including journals and account reconciliations
- Maintaining accurate and timely reconciliations across key accounts
- Preparing financial information and analysis in line with reporting deadlines
- Assisting with the preparation of monthly and annual financial statements
- Supporting compliance activities including BAS, FBT, superannuation, workers compensation and payroll tax returns
- Preparing supporting work papers and financial documentation
- Assisting with financial planning, budgeting and forecasting
- Working collaboratively with the broader Finance team and stakeholders across the business
We are looking for team members who have:
- A degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline
- 2–3 years' experience in an accounting or finance role
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy
- The ability to effectively manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- A collaborative, responsive and customer-focused approach
- Current CPA studies, or an intention to commence your CPA qualification
