IIP Financial Delivery Support
- An experienced and motivated EL1 to support the financial management of the Integrated Investment Program Approved Acquisition program. The candidate will manage a diverse range of work including the internal budget update processes related to the Approved Acquisition Program, update and review relevant Approved Acquisition Financial Management Policies, engagement across the organisation on financial management matters and maintain positive working relationships.
- The candidate will be self-motivated with proven policy, financial and stakeholder engagement experience and have experience managing and motivating a team.

Alternative Financing
- An experienced and motivated EL1 to lead initiatives to progress alternative financing for Defence capability. Alternative financing is a key enabler to deliver Defence capability at the scale and pace required to meet the outcomes of the 2026 National Defence Strategy (NDS). Models include Private Public Partnerships, leasing arrangements, financing facilities and other forms of structured asset financing.
- The directorate is establishing common tools, guidance, market engagement practices and assessment methodologies that enable alternative financing to be applied in a structured, repeatable and scalable manner across the capability lifecycle. The directorate works across stakeholder groups, including individual capability projects, external agencies and industry.
- We are seeking candidates who are interested in working in a recent policy function, and are willing to independently learn about alternative financing strategies and best practice models. The ideal candidate will have strong written and verbal communication skills, an ability to apply critical analysis and be adept at drawing on the perspectives of different stakeholders in providing advice.

- An experienced and motivated EL1 to provide financial management, reporting and business partnering support for the Australian Defence Headquarters’ warfighting capability acquisition and sustainment programs. The successful candidate will play a key role in implementing a range of financial requirements arising from the 2026 NDS and Defence reform agenda.
- We are seeking candidates with strong financial management, analytical and stakeholder engagement skills who can operate effectively in a complex and evolving environment. The successful candidate will contribute to forecasting, variance analysis, executive reporting, financial commentary, Work Breakdown Structure establishment and project support activities.
Experience in these financial management functions is highly desirable.
About our Team
Capability Advice and Analysis Branch (CAAB) supports the Department of Defence in delivering its objectives outlined in the Integrated Investment Program (IIP) and National Defence Strategy, including the in-year management of over $35bn across both the Acquisition and Sustainment key cost categories.
CAAB provides strategic advice to senior officials within Defence on the financial management of the IIP to ensure its in-year and ongoing affordability.
