Help strengthen the voice and support available to mental health carers and families. Caring for someone living with mental ill health can be demanding, isolating and relentless. For more than 40 years, Arafmi has stood alongside carers and families, providing advocacy, education, peer support and practical services.

Arafmi is seeking an experienced, values-led Board Chair to guide its next chapter of growth, sustainability and impact.

The chance As Chair, you will lead a collaborative and effective Board that keeps carers and families at the centre of its decisions. Working with fellow Directors and the CEO, you will bring strategic clarity, sound judgement and strong governance to the opportunities and challenges ahead.

Your contribution will include

- Leading constructive Board discussion and clear decision-making.
- Guiding strategy while respecting the boundary between governance and management.
- Strengthening oversight of risk, compliance and organisational sustainability.
- Supporting CEO accountability, performance and succession planning.
- Building trust with stakeholders and ensuring different perspectives are heard.




- Protecting Arafmi's purpose while helping the organisation adapt and grow.

About you You bring substantial board, executive or senior leadership experience and a strong grasp of contemporary governance. Experience in the not-for-profit, health, mental health or community services sectors would be valuable, as would capability in advocacy, public policy, government relations, finance or organisational change. You can balance care for people with disciplined decision-making. You listen well, ask thoughtful questions and know how to bring a Board together around a shared purpose. Above all, you understand the importance of carers having both a voice and meaningful support.
