Astra Building Services is an established commercial and industrial construction and maintenance company delivering building maintenance, refurbishments, fit-outs, joinery and specialised project works across Melbourne.
Our Maintenance Department continues to grow, and we are looking for an experienced, reliable and motivated Building Maintenance Technician to join our team.
This is a hands-on, varied role suited to someone who enjoys problem-solving, takes pride in their workmanship and wants to work across a diverse range of commercial and industrial properties.
Based from our Moorabbin head office, you will attend client sites throughout Melbourne, including the CBD and surrounding metropolitan areas, primarily working in the Northern and Western suburbs.
About the Role
As a Building Maintenance Technician, you will carry out general building maintenance, repairs and minor project works for a range of commercial and industrial clients.
No two days are the same. Your work may include:
- General building maintenance and repairs
- Carpentry and door repairs and adjustments
- Flooring repairs and installation
- Glazing and minor locksmith works
- Concrete repairs and patching
- Painting and general make-good works
- External building and outdoor structure repairs
- Installation of fixtures, fittings and building components
- Minor demolition and alteration works
- General reactive and preventative maintenance
- Other ad-hoc building maintenance works as required
You will report to our Maintenance Manager and work both independently and alongside our wider maintenance and project teams.
What We're Looking For
We are looking for someone who is practical, professional and confident working within occupied commercial and industrial environments.
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- Previous experience in building maintenance, construction, carpentry, fit-outs or a similar trade-based role
- Strong general building and maintenance knowledge
- Current Victorian Driver Licence
- Construction Induction Card (White Card)
- A sound understanding of workplace health and safety requirements
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
- Good problem-solving skills and a practical approach to maintenance issues
- Ability to undertake physical work
- Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship
- Reliability, punctuality and a qualified attitude
- A willingness to learn, develop additional skills and become a long-term member of the team
