About the role:

The Career and Education Support Officer (CESO) is central to the Employment, Learning and Education pillars, ensuring meaningful employment, learning and education pathways that strengthen the broader organisational mission. CES Officer supports participants in getting career and/or education ready by guiding them through the Career and Education hub and their own tailored program to achieve their education, employment and learning goals. CES Officer match participants to appropriate services, and provide ongoing guidance and referrals to upskilling, training, and employment opportunities. The position liaises effectively with internal teams to coordinate participant support, align opportunities across regions, and contribute to feedback loops to achieve successful participant outcomes. Hours: Full-time, 38 hours per week.

Employment term: Fixed term contract for one-year (Parental leave cover)

Responsibilities:





This role sits within the Employment, Learning and Education team and has the following responsibilities:

- Provide tailored, one-on-one education and career support to veterans and family members, through career readiness resources and opportunities to facilitate meaningful employment and education outcomes
- Collaborate with participants to identify education and career goals, match them to appropriate services, and provide ongoing guidance and referrals to upskilling, training, and employment opportunities
- Promote enrolment and engagement with both new and existing education and employment partners
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date participant records, including detailed notes and outcome documentation in line with internal systems (CRM)
- Complete timely and accurate weekly and monthly reports on employment and education activities, supporting data-driven insights and continuous service improvement
- Support the development of marketing content and provide relevant materials to the Marketing and Communications Team to promote programs and participant success stories
- Contribute to resource development, the delivery of career readiness workshops and group sessions, and broader service improvement initiatives
- Support the preparation of grant applications and funding proposals as required
- Promote a strengths-based, participant-centred approach to all education and career support activities
- Act as the main point of contact for a dedicated caseload of participants to support them in getting Career and Education ready
- Manage assigned email inboxes with timely, professional responses
- Work in consultation with the CES Manager and team to ensure the Career and Education Hub is updated regularly
- Ensure regular participant follow ups as outlined in their program, track enrolments and job placements, progress and completion including completing documentation requirements




- Attend external Industry events to promote Soldier On and to engage with community and corporates as required
- Share insights, resources, and best practice approaches with colleagues across the national team
- In collaboration with the team, ensure continuity and consistency of the participant and program journey

About you:

The successful applicant will have the following demonstrable skills and experience:

- Ability to communicate effectively with participants
- Ability to manage caseload
- Demonstrated ability to work under broad direction
- Ability to manage competing work priorities
- A team player with a positive and collaborative attitude
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically and analytically with the capacity to exercise initiative and sound judgement
- Proven ability to multitask, determine work priorities, and work constructively as a team member
- Results driven with high-level organisational skills and strong ability to meet deadlines
- Experience using CRM
- Stakeholder management experience
- Working with Children Check, National Police Check, and the ability to obtain Defence base access where required
- Current First Aid, Mental Health First Aid, ASIST certification or willingness to obtain one
- Experience in a national not for profit organisation will be considered advantageous
- A broad understanding of the ADF and the experience of veterans will be highly regarded
