About The Role Help create a welcoming early learning workplace where children feel safe, supported and inspired to learn.
As an Assistant Centre Director, you will work closely with the Centre Director to support the daily operations of the service, guide educators and deliver high-quality education and care. You will build positive relationships with children and families and help create a collaborative team culture that reflects the Y’s values of Honesty, Caring, Respect and Responsibility.
Your Responsibilities Will Include
- Supporting daily centre operations, including staffing, rosters, administration and compliance.
- Coaching and mentoring educators to strengthen their practice and professional development.
- Supporting educational programs that reflect the Early Years Learning Framework and each child’s interests, strengths and needs.
- Contributing to the Quality Improvement Plan and continuous improvement against the National Quality Standard.
- Building respectful partnerships with families, community organisations and inclusion support services.
- Promoting child safety, wellbeing and inclusive environments.
- Assisting with recruitment, educator induction and performance reviews.
- Taking responsibility for the day-to-day running of the service and acting as the Nominated Supervisor when the Centre Director is absent.
What You’ll Bring
- Strong knowledge of the National Quality Framework, Early Years Learning Framework and Education and Care Services National Law and Regulations.
- The ability to support, coach and motivate educators through collaborative leadership.
- A calm, approachable manner, well-developed emotional intelligence and strong interpersonal skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- A commitment to inclusive practice, continuous improvement and safeguarding children.
- The ability to build positive relationships with children, families, colleagues and community partners.
Certificates and check
- A Bachelor of Early Childhood Education or an ACECQA-approved equivalent qualification.
- Current ACT Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) registration, or the ability to obtain this before commencement.
- A Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and, where applicable, an International Police Check.
- A Food Safety Supervisor Certificate, or willingness to obtain this before commencement.
- Current First Aid, CPR, Asthma and Anaphylaxis certifications, or willingness to obtain these.
Training You will need to complete, or be willing to complete, the following before commencement:
- All required Y mandatory internal online training modules.
- Geccko – Foundations of Child Safety Training, Courses 1 & 2.
- Geccko – Advanced Child Safety Training, Courses 3 & 4.
- Geccko – Leading and governing child safety, Course 5.
- ACT Government – Keeping Children and Young People Safe training.
