When families face complex challenges, the right support can help restore safety, strengthen relationships and create hope for the future. As a Child and Family Practitioner, you’ll walk alongside families as they heal, build confidence and move towards lasting change.

Based in Hamlyn Heights, you’ll support children, young people and parents experiencing complex and enduring challenges. Through evidence-informed, trauma-aware support, you’ll help families restore safety,

strengthen parenting capacity and build the connections they need to move forward. Working within Meli’s Restoring family support stream, you’ll partner with families and community services to respond to risk, promote healing and prevent disadvantage from continuing across generations. This is meaningful work where thoughtful practice, strong relationships and timely intervention can help families create safer, healthier futures.

As a Child and Family Practitioner, you will:

- Build trusted relationships with families through assertive outreach and tailored support.
- Strengthen family capacity through evidence-informed assessment, planning and intervention.
- Coordinate services and partnerships that improve safety, stability and access to support.
- Advocate for children and families while contributing to inclusive, high-quality practice.

Position Details

- Full time, ongoing position
- 1 FTE working 38 hours per week
- $105,835 p/a + Super + Salary Packaging

What We’re Looking For We value individuals who bring dedication, empathy, and expertise to their roles. To succeed in this position, you will have:

- A relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Welfare Studies, Alcohol and Other Drugs,



Behavioural Sciences or related field
- Demonstrated understanding of managing complex cases with strong case practice including client advocacy, therapeutic interventions and family support in line with evidence informed frameworks.
- Demonstrated understanding of risk and needs assessments
- Demonstrated knowledge of the factors that can impact on a parent’s ability to care for children and knowledge of the service system and resources available that can support parents, children and young people
