If flood modelling is where you want to build your career, this is an opportunity to join one of Australia’s highly regarded multidisciplinary engineering consultancies and work alongside an established team of flood and water specialists. We are looking for a Flood Modeller / Civil Engineer with around 3+ years of experience who wants exposure to technically challenging flood, hydrology, stormwater, and urban development projects.
This is not simply a modelling position. You will be encouraged to develop your technical capability, take increasing ownership of projects, work directly with clients and other disciplines, and progress your career within a team that can provide genuine mentoring and development.
The Opportunity
- Undertake hydrological and hydraulic modelling across a diverse range of projects
- Develop flood models and assist with flood mapping, assessment, and interpretation
- Carry out spatial and technical analysis using GIS and other modelling tools
- Work on complex flood and stormwater problems requiring practical engineering solutions
- Assist with project planning, programming, budgets, and technical delivery
- Prepare technical reports, assessments, proposals, and supporting documentation
- Work collaboratively with civil engineers, designers, architects, developers, and other project stakeholders
- As your experience develops, mentor junior engineers and take greater responsibility for project delivery
What We’re Looking For
- Around 3+ years of experience in flood modelling, hydraulics, or hydrological analysis
- Strong TUFLOW capability is particularly important
- Experience with QGIS and exposure to packages such as DRAINS, MUSIC, RORB, WBNM, RAFTS, URBS or similar
- Degree-qualified Civil Engineer or equivalent
- Understanding of Australian engineering standards and local industry requirements
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
- Good technical report writing and communication skills
- Someone who wants to continue developing toward greater technical and project leadership responsibility
- Engineers Australia membership, with CPEng progression encouraged
