The role
Working with Digital Health and Business Solutions, the Office of the Chief Clinical Information Officer (OCCIO), Hospital and Health Services and statewide MHAOD stakeholders, you will provide clinical leadership and expert advice to support the planning, design, configuration and implementation of ieMR across MHAOD settings.
You will translate clinical requirements into practical digital workflows, ensuring the solution supports safe, person-centred care and meets the clinical, operational, legislative and reporting needs of MHAOD services.
This is a multidisciplinary position, with appointment at either Nurse Grade 7 (NG7) or Health Practitioner 5 (HP5), depending on the successful applicant's professional qualifications and eligibility.
Key responsibilities
Provide expert MHAOD clinical and informatics advice to support the design, implementation and optimisation of ieMR functionality, workflows and models of care.
Engage clinicians, operational leaders and statewide stakeholders to assess clinical requirements, identify impacts and develop consistent workflows that accommodate local service needs.
Undertake clinical validation and testing of system changes, identifying, managing and escalating risks to consumer care, clinical safety and service delivery.
Apply relevant professional, legislative and policy requirements to digital solution design, clinical documentation and workflow development.
Lead and support working groups, consultation activities and governance processes, including clinical content ownership, review and approval.
Support implementation readiness, change management and go-live activities, including expert input into standardised training and education materials.
Collaborate with clinical networks, governance groups and data and analytics teams to improve information capture, reporting, care coordination and multidisciplinary communication.
Contribute to the identification and evaluation of clinical benefits, implementation outcomes and opportunities for continuous improvement.
Are you right for this role?
The successful candidate will bring advanced clinical knowledge and experience relevant to MHAOD services, with a strong understanding of multidisciplinary care, clinical governance and operational requirements. They will have advanced clinical informatics capability, including the ability to translate complex clinical needs into safe, practical digital solutions, supported by strong analytical skills, sound clinical judgement and an understanding of clinical and operational impacts. Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills are essential, with the ability to influence, negotiate and build effective relationships across professional groups.
The role requires a proactive approach to digital service improvement, applying evidence-based practice to enhance consumer care and outcomes, while effectively prioritising competing demands, responding to emerging issues and minimising clinical risk and service disruption.
An understanding of Queensland Health's digital agenda and change governance processes, or the ability to rapidly develop this knowledge, is also required.
Experience with digital clinical systems and implementation processes, previous work within clinical informatics teams, and relevant postgraduate or project management qualifications would be highly regarded.
