Data Analytics-Must have MS Purview, Power BI immediately in Sydney

Primary toolset: MS Purview, Power BI Desktop and Service, Power Query (M), DAX, SQL, Excel, and the Azure Analytics environment.

ACCOUNTABILITIES / KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Data Quality, Governance & Documentation

- Streamline reporting workflows to reduce manual effort and improve reliability
- Establish and maintain consistent business definitions, metrics, and data standards to ensure reporting accuracy and reliability
- Perform hands-on data profiling and maintain data quality metrics.
- Develop comprehensive knowledge repository documentation for GenAI, covering data lineage, transformation logic, calculations, solution processes, and user guides to support sustainable handover and knowledge sharing.
- Develop high-performance data catalogue tools, data mapping, technical data quality checks, and supporting data engineering artefacts.

Data Foundation, Reporting & Semantic Modelling

- Write and optimise SQL queries to extract, transform, and model data to support analytics, reporting, and future AI initiatives.
- Connect Power BI reports to a variety of data sources including SQL Server, SharePoint, Excel, and APIs.




- Develop high-performance Power BI datasets and semantic models that are technically robust and user-friendly.
- Design, build, and maintain enterprise-grade interactive Power BI dashboards and reports, applying UX best practices and data visualisation principles.
- Support ad-hoc requests for data analysis and reporting.

Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand reporting needs, gather requirements, and translate business questions into effective dashboards.
- Present insights, findings, and recommendations to diverse audiences, from technical teams to senior leadership.
- Train and support business users to use data analytics solutions effectively.

Continuous Improvement & Innovation

- Continuously enhance data analytics solutions based on user feedback and evolving business requirements.
- Support the preparation of AI-ready datasets and business metadata to improve data usability for future machine learning and generative AI applications.
- Stay informed on the latest Power BI features and best practices.

Desirable Skills & Additional Experience (Strong plus)

- Knowledge of data warehousing, data modelling, data lakes, Medallion architecture, and ETL/ELT practices.
- Experience with data profiling, data quality rule implementation, and data lineage.
- Familiarity with Azure Storage, Azure SQL, and cloud-based data solutions.
- Hands-on experience in data analytics, data quality management, and validation rules for data health.
- Experience working with SQL Server data warehouse and Synapse data lake environments.
