As the Deputy Chief Information Officer (DCIO) at the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (Cth) (CDPP), you will co-lead the digital transformation of Australia’s federal prosecution service. Reporting directly to the Chief Information Officer (CIO), you will serve as a vital strategic partner, driving innovation, robust governance, and modernisation across the agency.
What will you bring?
- Extensive technical, professional, and specialist experience at the Executive Level 2 (EL2) level in APS governance, performance reporting, and assurance activities;
- A proven track record in leading complex ICT procurement activities;
- Highly developed research and analysis skills, with the ability to draw evidence-based conclusions and translate complex analytical outputs into clear, accurate, and well-written documents and policies;
- Operational understanding of the Digital Transformation Agency’s (DTA) policies and frameworks;
- Outstanding executive leadership, communication, and influence skills, with the ability to engage confidently with executives, and establish trusted relationships with them;
- The ability to drive a high-performance culture through transparent reporting and collaborative leadership;
- Excellent people management skills, leadership capability, and judgment skills; and
- High personal drive, initiative, integrity, emotional intelligence, and a strong commitment to APS values and ethics.
What we are you looking for
This role is ideal for a highly experienced EL2 seeking a lateral move, or a senior Executive Level 1 (EL1) with extensive periods acting at the EL2 level who is ready to step up into an EL2 leadership capacity.
This senior position offers a high degree of autonomy and accountability to lead complex, high-impact ICT transformations and governance initiatives.
You will take ownership of the operational governance framework—strengthening performance reporting, mitigating enterprise risk, shaping ICT policy, and embedding rigorous quality assurance.
This is an opportunity to influence the technological capabilities supporting federal justice in Australia while shaping strategy, leading diverse technical and operational teams, and closely collaborating with executive leaders across the agency.
In addition to meeting the Integrated Leadership System profile of the Executive Level 2, primary outcomes and accountabilities will involve:
- Assist the CIO in governance oversight, policy development, and service delivery management;
- Lead complex procurements within the ICT Team;
- Oversee daily operations, prioritising information technology initiatives to ensure robust delivery of ICT systems and services;
- Provides strategic leadership and guidance at the executive level in critical areas of technology administration;
- Informing and communicating balanced decisions using qualified judgement;
- Establishing and maintaining key internal and external networks and managing stakeholders through change,
resolving conflict and managing sensitivities;
- Researching and analysing a range of complex issues including developing, reviewing, evaluating and implementing governance arrangements, policies and procedures, process and document tools;
- Leading and evaluating team and individual performance, providing regular feedback and conflict resolution; and
- Participating and contributing to the CDPP and broader APS objectives, including the strategic planning of agency wide objectives.
- The ability to obtain and maintain an AGSVA NV1 security clearance.
- Australian Citizenship.
- Tertiary qualifications or equivalent in ICT.
Other Requirements:
- Specialist knowledge and experience in ICT strategic policy development.
- Experience managing large scale procurement activities.
- Demonstrated experience at the EL2 level in federal public sector governance, performance and reporting, leadership. and strategic planning related activities.
