Talent Butler is currently recruiting an experienced Design Manager to join the project team delivering an $80M new-build retail development The project is well underway, with construction out of the ground and sections of the development already topped out. With approximately 12 months remaining, this is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Design Manager to take ownership of design coordination through the critical construction and delivery phases.
The role is full-time site-based, with both permanent and contract opportunities available.
The Role
Working closely with the Project Manager, Site Manager and broader construction team, you will take responsibility for managing the design process and ensuring design solutions are coordinated, practical and buildable.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing design through the construction and delivery phases
- Coordinating architects, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers
- Managing architectural, structural and services documentation
- Reviewing documentation for buildability and construction requirements
- Identifying and resolving design and constructability issues
- Managing RFIs, design changes and design information
- Leading design coordination meetings
- Monitoring design deliverables against the construction programme
- Maintaining drawing registers and design documentation
- Working closely with the site team to resolve design-related issues quickly
About You
You will be an experienced Design Manager or construction-side design professional with strong knowledge of construction methodology and buildability.
You will ideally have:
- Experience managing design on large-scale new-build projects
- Strong architectural, structural and building services knowledge
- Experience coordinating multidisciplinary consultant teams
- The ability to identify design issues before they impact construction
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD
- The ability to join an established project and become productive quickly
Retail or large-scale commercial construction experience will be highly regarded.
