Help our development and regulatory services run smoothly

Circular Head Council is seeking an organised Development Services Officer to support our Planning, Building, Plumbing, Compliance and Environmental Health functions. You will help progress applications and outstanding matters, maintain accurate records and provide clear, professional service to customers and colleagues.

Make a practical difference for our community In this role, your attention to detail will help the team work through files, follow up missing information and keep routine processes moving. About the role The Development Services Officer provides operational support across Council’s Planning, Building, Plumbing, Compliance and Environmental Health functions. An initial priority is to help reduce outstanding compliance and regulatory matters through file review, record keeping, follow-up and processing tasks.

- Maintain accurate registers, electronic files and workflow records, track assigned actions and follow up where directed.
- Support the team with application processing, data checking, reporting information and practical improvements to routine processes.

About you

You enjoy organised, detail-focused work and can manage a steady flow of records, enquiries and follow-up tasks. You are comfortable following procedures, asking for guidance when needed and treating sensitive information with care.

You communicate clearly with customers and colleagues, including when an enquiry is difficult, and can balance competing priorities while keeping accurate records.

Ideally, you will have:

- Experience in records, data processing, customer service or similar operational work, with strong attention to detail.
- The ability to follow procedures and checklists, organise your workload and recognise when a matter needs attention.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills and a professional approach to customer service and confidentiality.
- Sound Microsoft Office skills and the ability to learn electronic record keeping, workflow and regulatory systems.
- A current driver licence and the ability to obtain a satisfactory Police Check. Experience in local government or a regulatory setting would be an advantage.
