ABOUT US

Council owns and operates the Cobar Shire & TAFE Library, Great Cobar Museum and Visitor Information Centre, Lilliane Brady Village (residential aged care facility), Children's Services, Youth & Community Centre as well as works depots in Cobar and Euabalong.

Our core values - Accountability, Communication, Effective Leadership, Integrity and Teamwork (ACE IT) represent who we are as an organisation. They are the agreed guiding principles for how we carry out our duties and interact with our community.

The Cobar Early Learning Centre is the only long day care service in Cobar. Our brand current, achitecurally designed building was opened in October 2024 and has been allowed us to offer a significant number of additional placements for families within our community, but there is still a strong demand, so we need to keep growing - and to do that, we need to grow our team.

ABOUT YOU

We are seeking experienced, enthusiastic, kind, and caring Educators to deliver outstanding education and care for the children at our long daycare service.

Candidates will need to be Diploma qualified and passionate about early childhood education and play based learning, with a commitment to bringing that learning to life through programs that inspire the children in our care to reach their full potential. We are looking for team players who brings their best selves to work and build positive relationships with the children and families to create a safe, fun, inviting, and nurturing learning environment.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the Lead Educator of each room, our educators are responsible for implementing an innovative play based learning program,

documenting the children's learning journey, and ensuring the room operates efficiently and in accordance with the required standards, legislation, and regulations.

The Early Learning Centre (affectionately known as the ELC) currently has four rooms - infants (7mths-2yrs), toddlers (2-3yrs), preschool (3-4yrs), and pre-kindy (4-5yrs). To meet community deman, we plan to open our fifth room in January 2027 and are recruiting in preparation for that growth.

Cobar Shire Council is committed to the safety and well-being of children and young people. All applicants will undergo background checks, including working with children checks, reference checking, and must comply with our child protection policies to ensure a safe environment for all.

Commencing in January 2027, this position offers a salary up to $76,300 under Council's salary system plus applicable allowances, with employment terms and conditions in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award, working 38 hours a week, accruing one rostered day off (RDO) each month.

For experienced and diploma qualified candidates, Council will consider VISA sponsorship under our existing Orana DAMA Labour Agreement.

To apply, please attach a cover letter outlining your experience relating to this role, together with a copy of your current resume.

Shortlisted candidates must undergo a national police check and a pre employment medical, including drug and alcohol screening.

Cobar Shire Council welcomes applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, workers of all ages, people with disabilities and those from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
