The Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Foundation (QATSIF) is seeking an exceptional leader to guide the Foundation's strategic direction, governance and operations. his is a unique opportunity to lead an organisation grounded in the aspirations of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and dedicated to supporting First Nations students across Queensland to thrive in education, culture, and life.
As Director, you will help shape a future where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people have every opportunity to achieve their educational goals while remaining connected to culture, community and Country.

About you You are a respected Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander leader with integrity, cultural authority and a commitment to improving outcomes for First Nations peoples.
You will ideally bring
- Demonstrated leadership experience in governance, community engagement and program delivery.
- Strong and respectful relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively with Elers, communities, schools, government agencies and partner organisations.
- Experience supporting strategic planning, organisational leadership and governance processes.
- Sound financial and operational management capability.
- A collaborative leadership style that promotes cultural safety, inclusion and empowerment.
- A genuine commitment to supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people to succeed in education and beyond.
- A deep understanding of the importance of culture, community, identity and belonging in shaping positive outcomes for First Nations students.
Identified role This position is identified as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander role due to the genuine occupational requirement of the position (see s25 Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (Qld).
We welcome applicants who have solid community connections and lived experience, together with an understanding of the cultural,
historical and social factors that influence educational participation and success for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people.
The role provides strategic leadership and direction for initiatives that directly impact Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities and organisations. The incumbent is required to draw upon lived experience, cultural knowledge, community connections and an understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives to effectively lead engagement, build trusted relationships, inform decision-making and influence outcomes. These attributes are integral to the effective performance of the role.
About QATSIF
QATSIF was established to provide Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families with increased educational choices and life opportunities. Through scholarships and support programs, QATSIF assists First Nations students to access educational opportunities and achieve their potential. The Foundation is managed by the Public Trustee of Queensland and operates through a dedicated Secretariat.
The funds held in the QATSIF Trust represent the toil of previous generations of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Queenslanders who laboured under now-repealed control laws and policies. More information about the originating history of QATSIF can be found at About — QATSIF
