Job Title: Disability Community Workers – F/T

About the Opportunity The Housing Connection is seeking dedicated Disability Community Workers to join our team as soon as possible.

This highly rewarding and wide-ranging role will see you working closely with people with a disability to encourage self-determination and independence.

Your responsibilities could include, but are not limited to:

· Assisting with day-to-day activities, including personal care;

· Promoting social inclusion, meaningful experiences, skills development, and enhancing valued roles;

· Maintaining records of service delivery and engaging with your supervisor and team members.

This role requires you to:

· Have experience, a minimum of three years’ experience working with people with intellectual disability, mental health, complex needs and challenging behaviours;

· Have a demonstrated understanding of positive behaviour support theory and practice and of the lawful use of restrictive practices;

· Have the ability to carry out shift work – am, pm, weekends and sleepovers;





· Excellent communication skills;

· Be enthusiastic and creative with a strong commitment to social justice and passionate about encouraging people with a disability to follow their dreams, aspirations and goals;

· Demonstrate a working understanding of NDIS and code of conduct;

· Have a current, open driver’s licence, current First Aid Certificate, current NDIS Workers check and completion of the NDIS Worker Orientation module
