Port Adelaide

To our future Support Worker...

Thank you for taking the time to get to know us!

If you’re someone who cares deeply about the people you support, takes pride in doing your job well and wants to be part of a team that shares those values, we’d love to meet you.

At Support Services SA, we know that great support starts with great people. People who listen, follow through on their commitments and take the time to understand what matters to someone.

We’re a small, growing Adelaide provider building something we want to be proud of for years to come: a service participants and families can rely on, and a workplace where dedicated support workers feel valued and connected.

We’re looking for warm, reliable and experienced people to join us. People who encourage independence, celebrate achievements and understand that the little things often make the biggest difference to someone’s day.

We’re hiring across Adelaide Metro - We have opportunities throughout metropolitan Adelaide, with immediate vacancies in the participant teams below.

We take matching seriously. Your experience, personality, interests and availability all help us find the right fit. Successful matches offer opportunities to support familiar participants and become a valued member of their team.

Port Adelaide – High-intensity support

We’re seeking two to three female support workers to join a team supporting a young woman with complex needs.

Relevant PEG feeding and CPAP training and experience are essential. You’ll need to be attentive, follow support instructions carefully and communicate clearly in a way the participant understands.

Support takes place in a family home with children and dogs. Respect for the family’s faith, values and routines is important. The participant enjoys dancing, art and sport.

Weekday shifts vary between 7am and 8pm, including approximately four, six and eight-hour shifts. Weekend shifts are 7am–11:30am and 11:30am–8pm.

Ongoing opportunities are available, with an immediate start following onboarding.

Greenwith – Community access and complex support

We’re seeking a dependable male support worker to support a young man with complex psychosocial and disability support needs.

This is a community-based role requiring continuous supervision, attention to detail and experience responding calmly when someone becomes distressed or overwhelmed. You’ll use trauma-informed approaches and follow support plans to help him feel safe and engaged.

His interests include sport, cars, food, animals, movies and comedy.

Shifts are available Monday to Friday between 8am and 4pm, with ongoing opportunities and an immediate start following onboarding.

Elizabeth – Independence and everyday participation

Help a participant build confidence and independence through cooking, household tasks, gym visits, volunteering and community activities.

This opportunity would suit someone encouraging and engaged, with an interest in drawing, art, op shopping or activities with friends.

Available shift times include 8am–3pm and 3pm–8pm. We’re seeking an ongoing team member who can start soon.

Norwood and Eastern Suburbs – Support at home

We’re seeking a patient, dependable support worker to assist a participant with household tasks and everyday routines, encouraging her involvement and respecting her preferences.

Current shifts are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, 12pm–3pm, and Saturday, 12pm–4pm.

Noarlunga – Complex mental health and daily living support

We’re seeking a confident, caring male support worker with experience supporting people with complex mental health needs.

Support includes volunteering, social outings, sport, appointments and household routines. You’ll need to remain calm during distress, notice changes, follow support plans and take an active interest in the participant’s choices and goals.

Someone who enjoys joining in with sport and community activities would be a strong match.

Shifts are generally six to nine hours, Monday to Friday between 7am and 6pm, with ongoing opportunities and a start available soon.

The female and male worker requests for these specific teams relate to participants’ personal-care privacy needs.

What matters to us...

You understand that being invited into someone’s life is a position of trust.

You listen, respect people’s choices and encourage them to do things for themselves wherever possible. You bring warmth and initiative while knowing when to follow instructions, ask questions or seek support.

Reliability is essential. We need people who honour agreed shifts, arrive on time, communicate promptly when circumstances change and give participants their full attention.

Excellent spoken and written English is important, including the ability to adapt your language and pace to each participant’s understanding. Accurate progress notes, clear handovers and following individual support plans are essential parts of the role.

Relevant practical support experience is required. A Certificate III in Individual Support, Disability or a related qualification is highly desirable. We also value relevant lived experience and the understanding it brings. Specialist roles require the appropriate training and demonstrated capability.

What you can expect from us:

Positive support workers need a team they can count on, too.

You’ll join an inclusive workplace with approachable management and administration staff, reliable rostering and opportunities to build ongoing relationships with participants.

Pay ranges from $37 to $47 per hour, including casual loading, based on the applicable SCHADS classification, duties, relevant experience and qualifications. Superannuation, applicable penalty rates and allowances, including eligible kilometre payments, are paid in addition.

As we grow, we want our team to feel comfortable asking questions, sharing ideas and taking pride in the support we provide together.

What you’ll need:

Current NDIS Worker Screening Clearance.

Current South Australian Working with Children Check.

Current First Aid and CPR certificates.

Current manual handling training.

An unrestricted Australian driver’s licence.

A reliable, roadworthy and comprehensively insured vehicle.

A smartphone with internet access.

We’d love to get to know you!

Please apply through SEEK with an up-to-date résumé and a cover letter that tells us about you.

Your cover letter must include:

Your current suburb and the areas you can travel to.

Your availability, including specific days and start and finish times.

Which opportunities above you can support and why your experience and availability are a good match.

Your relevant experience, qualifications and specialist training, including PEG, CPAP or complex mental health support where applicable.

Your hobbies and interests, to help us identify shared interests with participants.

Your earliest start date and confirmation that your required checks and certificates are current.

Please also tell us briefly why this work matters to you and what you would bring to our team.

A cover letter addressing these points is required for your application to be considered. Your answers help us make thoughtful matches and identify opportunities that suit you.

We’re reviewing complete applications as they arrive and arranging interviews promptly.

If you care about doing this work well and want to help us build a service people can trust, we’d love to hear from you.

We look forward to welcoming the right people into our team!
