Chinova Resources is a private Australian resources company owned by the Shanxi Donghui Group of Companies, with principal activities focussed in North‐West Queensland. The company has existing operations at Osborne, south of Cloncurry, as well as several development projects and extensive exploration activity on a large tenement holding in the region. Chinova has other open pit and potential underground projects expected to commence.
Key projects include the Osborne copper-gold processing facility, the world’s highest grade molybdenum and rhenium deposit; and Mount Elliott, our flagship project, which contains one of the largest copper-gold, mineralised systems discovered in Australia.
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Document Controller to join the HST Team, sharing Chinova’s values and its commitment to safety and the environment.
About the role The Document Controller - Safety and Health Management System (SHMS) is responsible for overseeing the document control operations and functions of the SHMS. This includes managing the full lifecycle of controlled documents and records, maintaining registers and version control, and ensuring that people at Osborne Mine Operations have access to current, approved and legislatively compliant procedures, standards and forms. The role also provides input into SHMS improvement, document standards and audit readiness.
Key responsibilities
- Promote a zero-harm safety culture and support all workers and contractors to access and follow current safety and health procedures
- Support compliance with applicable Queensland legislation, Mining and Quarrying Safety and Health Act 1999 (MQSH Act 1999) including the Work Health and Safety Act 2011, associated Regulations and Codes of Practice, by ensuring the SHMS documents reflect current requirements
- Maintain compliance with the site safety management system (JSA/JHA, risk assessments, emergency response plans,
permit to work systems) by keeping the related documents, forms and templates controlled and current
- Ensure superseded or unapproved documents are withdrawn from use and cannot be mistaken for current versions
- Provide controlled documents and records promptly to support incident investigations, inspections and regulator requests
- Maintain the master document register for the SHMS, including document titles, numbers, owners, versions, approval dates and review dates
- Manage the document lifecycle of drafting, review, consultation, approval, issue, revision and archiving, in line with the document control procedure
- Apply consistent templates, numbering, formatting and version control to all SHMS documents, including procedures, standards, protected work instructions, forms and plans
- Issue new and revised documents through INX InControl and the Safety and Training Management System, and coordinate awareness and acknowledgement of changes with training and supervisors
- Maintain the safety and health records that must be kept, and ensure they are stored securely, indexed, retrievable and retained for the required period
About you
- Certificate IV or Diploma in Business, Information Management or Work Health and Safety, or equivalent relevant experience
- Minimum 2 years' document control or records management experience, ideally in mining, resources or a comparable industrial environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with an electronic document management system
- Understanding of how a safety and health management system is structured and how procedures, forms and records are used on site
- Demonstrated commitment to safety
- Ability to create and develop strong and trusting relationships at all levels
- Exceptional communication skills (verbal and written)
- Time management and the ability to manage competing priorities
- Current Queensland Standard 11 induction, or the ability to obtain it on appointment
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy, with a methodical approach to version control
This is a permanent FIFO opportunity on a family friendly 8/6 roster. Our selection process involves interviews, skills assessment, and pre-employment medical.
