Are you an experienced Cyber security qualified?

The Administrative Review Tribunal (ART) is seeking an experienced EL1 Assistant Director Cyber Assessment and Advice to support the Tribunal in a Cyber Security advisory, assessment and assurance capacity within the Enterprise Technology Group (ETG) branch.

This hybrid role is a 2-year non-ongoing opportunity that can be located in Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne or Sydney.

Remuneration: The annual salary range for the position is EL1 $121,755 - $143,202 p.a, plus a generous employer superannuation contribution of 15.4%.

About the opportunity:

You will lead security assessment and assurance activities and contribute to the development of consistent security architecture patterns across multiple concurrent initiatives. You will develop and maintain high-quality security artefacts that support the integrity, resilience and continuous improvement of the Tribunals technology environment. As a trusted advisor, you will assess proposed solutions and third-party technologies to ensure they are safe, secure and fit for purpose.

You will also work at the intersection of technology, privacy and security, embedding strong cyber hygiene practices into business and technology design through early engagement, guidance and education.

This role reports to the Director, Technology Security, Risk and Assurance and works closely with APS staff, Members, internal technology teams and managed service providers. You will contribute to both business-as-usual operations and project delivery activities.

The TSRA team is a collaborative group focused on security architecture, engineering and assurance, with four team members dedicated to cyber security operations. The team operates flexibly across Australia, with options to work from the office, in a hybrid arrangement or remotely. Work is planned and delivered using agile approaches such as Scrum and Scrumban.

The team culture is supportive, inclusive and outcomes focused, with a strong emphasis on continuous improvement and constructive challenge. The Enterprise Technology Group actively supports staff wellbeing and ensures workload and mental health considerations remain central to how work is managed.

- Leadership: Provide leadership, direction, advice and support to cross functional teams responsible for ICT products and services, as a subject matter expert. This includes providing advice on key disciplines and services required to meet compliance and control requirements. Promote positive behaviours, leading by example and taking a proactive approach to training, and increased compliance value understanding.
- Advice and policy: Provide authoritative expert advice and guidance on implementing information security controls and identifying risks within existing solutions and architectures. Develop, maintain and interpret policies, standards and processes that support the delivery of information security services, ensuring they remain fit for purpose.
- Compliance and risk management: Maintain the security, confidentiality, integrity, availability and accountability of information assets by ensuring compliance and adherence with Tribunal and whole of government information security policies, and standards. Identify, maintain, and contribute to technology risk management including the development and implementation of strategies, policies, procedures, and controls. Design, develop, modify, document, test, and optimise information security software and system security policies.
- Operational management: Ensure technology risks are identified, documented and continuously managed. Report on the effectiveness of administrative, technical and physical information security controls including compliance with governance control frameworks. Review business proposals and provide advice on security issues and implications. Conduct routine compliance and quality assurance performance testing of security and information protection controls. Maintain and contribute to operational continuity of the Tribunals cyber security toolchain to ensure protective, detective, and corrective controls are performing optimally and effectively.
- Delivery and stakeholder management: Engage with program sponsors, business owners, product owners and stakeholders at all levels,



within and external to the Tribunal to drive increased levels of compliance with policies, best practice ICT frameworks, and task completion to deliver agreed outcomes.

About you:

To be successful you will have:

- Strong curiosity and enthusiasm for emerging technologies and be able to apply this knowledge pragmatically to enable secure business outcomes,
- Ability to comfortably work across Microsoft cloud technologies including Entra, Dynamics 365, Defender, Copilot, Fabric and Azure services,
- Ability to apply traditional security and risk management frameworks to modern cloud-based architectures and understand how contemporary design patterns can reduce risk while improving business flexibility,
- Strong analytical and reasoning skills, with the ability to translate complex technical risks into clear and meaningful business advice,
- Ability to work autonomously, ask thoughtful questions and consistently challenge the status quo to improve outcomes without compromising security posture,
- Understanding on how to apply Australian Government cyber security frameworks, privacy legislation, AI governance and enterprise risk management practices.

- The ART requires Australian Citizenship as a condition of engagement.
- All employees are required to undertake an Australian Federal Police Check and a Health Assessment.
- Security Clearance - Have or be eligible to obtain a Negative Vetting Level 1 Security Clearance.

Desirable:

- Academic or Vocational certification in Technology and/or appropriate industry better practice standards and frameworks with specialisation in cyber security (e.g. CISM, CISSP, CCSP, CISA, GIAC)
- Vocational certification in modern software development lifecycle methodologies such as Agile, Scrum, XP, SAFe
- Vocational certification in modern design and governance frameworks such as TOGAF, COBIT or SABSA
