Your new role An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced finance professional to join as an Assistant Director (EL1) . Working within a high-performing finance team, you will lead key financial reporting, governance and assurance activities while partnering with senior stakeholders across the organisation.
Key responsibilities include
- Leading monthly and annual financial reporting processes
- Managing financial statements preparation and statutory reporting
- Coordinating audit activities and acting as a key liaison for external auditors
- Reviewing balance sheet reconciliations, journals and financial controls
- Overseeing fixed assets, cashflow forecasting and financial assurance activities
- Preparing executive, board and audit committee reporting
- Supporting the continuous improvement of financial frameworks, policies and controls
- Providing technical accounting advice and guidance to internal stakeholders
The role is available in Canberra, Brisbane or Sydney. What you'll need to succeed Must be an Australian citizen with a baseline security clearance.
You'll bring
- Experience in financial statements preparation and statutory reporting
- Robust knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards
- Experience managing audit and assurance activities
- Advanced financial accounting and financial control expertise
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Experience leading or mentoring staff within a finance function
- CPA, CA or equivalent qualification (highly regarded)
- Experience within the APS or broader government environment will be highly regarded
- Exposure to finance systems such as CBMS, SAP, TM1, Power BI or similar platforms will be advantageous
