Seeley International
Lonsdale
Seeley International is Australia's largest air conditioning manufacturer and a global leader in climate control solutions. Home to the Breezair, Braemar, Coolair, Climate Wizard and Convair brands, we design, manufacture and export innovative, energy-efficient products from our Lonsdale facility in South Australia to more than 100 countries.
We are looking for an experienced Electrical and Controls Engineer to join our Engineering team and take ownership of the industrial control systems behind our commercial cooling products.
About the Role
Reporting to the Engineering Manager - Commercial Cooling, you will manage the specification, design, development, documentation and introduction of industrial electrical control panels for our Climate Wizard and Braemar HVAC products.
It's a hands-on design role with genuine end-to-end ownership - you'll take a control system from concept and schematic through to test assembly, compliance, production handover and field support. You'll work closely with Engineering, Purchasing, Production, Service and Quality, and directly with suppliers and compliance authorities.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement industrial control panels for new and existing Climate Wizard and Braemar commercial cooling products.
- Define and document control panel specifications; liaise with vendors and obtain quotations.
- Ensure products are safe and meet regulatory requirements, including AS/NZS 3000, AS/NZS 4042, AS/NZS 60335, UL508A and similar standards.
- Perform electrical load calculations and short-circuit analysis.
- Generate electrical schematics, bills of materials, drawings and supporting engineering documentation.
- Build test assemblies and complete trials to verify technical specification and reliability requirements.
- Produce customer documentation including user, installer and service manuals.
- Review product costs and drive cost reduction initiatives where applicable.
- Work with Manufacturing to ensure a smooth transition of new product from development into production.
- Investigate and resolve manufacturing issues relating to electrical and control components, including supply shortages, alternative suppliers, factory assembly issues and end-of-line test failures.
- Investigate and resolve electrical and control related warranty and field failure issues, including reviewing returned components and supporting service technicians with on-site troubleshooting.
- Provide engineering advice to technical support staff and deliver in-house and customer training sessions.
- Support Sales and Marketing with technical data as required.
- Maintain design files and records in line with the Quality System.
About You You are a practical, self-motivated engineer who enjoys solving problems on the factory floor as much as at the desk, and who can carry a design through to a product that performs in the field.
You'll also bring
- An electrical trade-based apprenticeship including relevant Certificate III (or equivalent electrical engineering qualification).
- Sound knowledge of electrical wiring standards and design regulations.
- A strong understanding of electrical wiring and panel building across ELV and LV designs.
- Experience in PLC/SCADA system design and development.
- Experience in instrumentation and control installation and troubleshooting.
- Experience with electrical panel wiring in a factory production workplace.
- Experience with industrial communications and network design and development, including Modbus and BACnet.
- Familiarity with electrical and electronic design and documentation software.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills,
with the ability to build trusted relationships with internal and external customers.
- Strong analytical and research skills, and the ability to plan and deliver against project deadlines.
- Confidence reporting to and presenting at senior management level.
Desirable
- A current Electrical Licence.
- Experience in HVAC, refrigeration or a related product manufacturing environment.
- Experience taking a new product from design through to volume production.
Why Join Seeley International? At Seeley International, you'll join an Australian-owned business that designs, manufactures and exports innovative climate control solutions around the world. We value continuous improvement, innovation and collaboration, and we're committed to helping our people grow their careers.
We offer

- Genuine ownership of product design outcomes on globally recognised brands.
- Modern manufacturing, engineering workshop and office facilities.
- Ongoing professional development.
- Supportive and collaborative team environment.

Working Arrangements This is a permanent full-time position based at our Lonsdale site. The role is primarily office-based with regular time in the factory and Engineering Workshop, and some customer or supplier site visits. Some after-hours work and occasional intrastate and interstate travel may be required.
