They are now seeking a qualified and experienced full time Electrician to join their team in Holroyd, Sydney. Reporting to senior management and project leads, the role involves performing high-level electrical installations, diagnostic testing, circuit design analysis, and routine maintenance across active job sites. It calls for strong technical expertise, meticulous attention to detail, and confident communication with clients, site teams, and internal stakeholders alike.
This is a full-time position offering a competitive salary within the range of $75,000 to $85,000 AUD per annum, plus superannuation, benchmarked against market rates and commensurate with the technical skill, qualifications, and accountability required for the role.
SCOPE OF THE ROLE:
- Examining technical blueprints, electrical wiring diagrams, and architectural specifications to determine optimal installation sequences, cable routing, and operational methods across residential, commercial, and industrial sites.
- Measuring, marking, and laying out installation reference points for electrical conduits, cable trays, ladder trays, and fixtures in accordance with site plans and structural requirements.
- Selecting, cutting, terminating, and connecting wiring systems and cabling (including TPS, XLPE, single-core, multi-core, data, and communications cables) to terminals, connectors, and junction boxes.
- Utilising specialized electrical and electronic test instruments (multimeters, insulation resistance testers/meggers, voltmeters, and loop impedance meters) to trace, isolate, and diagnose complex electrical faults.
- Repairing and replacing faulty electrical wiring, defective components, switches, and circuit protection devices to restore full system functionality and ensure operational safety.
- Positioning, assembling, and installing main switchboards, sub-boards,
distribution panels, and protection devices (including MCBs, RCDs, RCBOs, contactors, and relays) tailored to maximum demand and voltage drop calculations.
- Connecting complete electrical systems, sub-mains, and machinery to primary power supplies, verifying phase balance and safe system energisation.
- Executing mandatory continuity, polarity, insulation resistance, and fault loop impedance testing on new and existing circuits to ensure full compliance with AS/NZS 3000 (Wiring Rules) and AS/NZS 3012 (Construction Sites).
- Installing, testing, and commissioning specialized equipment, including emergency lighting, solar photovoltaic (PV) power generation systems, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), and industrial control apparatus.
- Implementing rigorous Work Health and Safety (WHS) protocols, including Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS), hazard identification, risk assessments, and lock-out/tag-out (LOTO) procedures on all work sites.
- Liaising with site managers, builders, tradespeople, and clients to report project progress, define technical requirements, and deliver seamless electrical service outcomes.
TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS ROLE, YOU SHOULD:
- Hold a relevant Australian qualification — Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician or equivalent AQF qualification (or overseas equivalent).
- Hold or be eligible for an Australian Electrical Work Licence / Registration.
- Have at least 2 to 3 years of relevant professional work experience as an Electrician within residential, commercial, or site construction sectors.
- Demonstrated experience in wiring installations, cable tray setups, switchboard assembly, sub-mains, and circuit protection.
- Advanced proficiency in electrical fault finding, diagnostic testing, and circuit verification using standard electrical testing equipment (megger, multimeter, etc.).
- Sound knowledge of Australian Standards, particularly AS/NZS 3000 (Wiring Rules) and AS/NZS 3012 (Electrical installations - Construction and demolition sites).
- Proven understanding of site safety protocols, SWMS execution, hazard control, and LOTO compliance.
- Hold a valid Australian driver licence and White Card (General Construction Induction).
- Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills to engage effectively with clients and site teams.
- Must hold valid Australian work rights at the time of application.
