About the Position

We are excited to welcome an Employee Relations Specialist to our People and Culture team at Act for Kids and Youthrive.

In this pivotal role, you will provide expert advice and guidance on complex and formal workplace matters, supporting fair, respectful and legally sound outcomes. Working with People and Culture Advisors, program leaders and other internal stakeholders, the role supports timely and respectful processes that reflect procedural fairness, trauma-informed practice and organisational values.

Key Responsibilities:

- Complex workplace matters - manage and provide advice on complex or formal matters, including performance and conduct, grievances and complaints, mediation, conflict resolution, disciplinary processes, and termination of employment, using strong listening and communication skills.
- Leadership advice and coaching - work proactively with leaders to identify and address workplace concerns early, helping them develop the confidence and skills to manage performance, conduct and conflict constructively that enables early resolution of workplace concerns.
- Governance and compliance - ensure ER practices and decisions are consistent with employment legislation, industrial instruments, policies and procedures; develop and review ER policies, procedures and practical resources; govern employment documentation and processes; and develop and facilitate ER related training.

About You

- Tertiary qualification in human resources, industrial relations or a related discipline.




- At least three (3) years’ experience managing complex employee relations matters, including performance and conduct concerns, grievances and complaints, workplace investigations, mediation, conflict resolution and termination processes.
- Solid listening and communication skills, with the ability to understand different perspectives and support the constructive resolution of workplace concerns.
- Excellent judgement and problem-solving skills, including the ability to consider different perspectives, assess available information and recommend fair and workable solutions.
- Eligibility to work in Australia (proof of eligibility required), including holding or obtaining required checks (Working with Children Check or professional exemption).
- Current driver’s licence.
