Systems Engineering Manager

Bridge IT Engineering is seeking an experienced Systems Engineering Manager to support a large-scale, complex Federal Government capability environment in Canberra. This is a senior technical leadership role supporting complex capability development, acquisition, integration, sustainment and modernisation activities. The successful candidate will provide systems engineering leadership and specialist technical advice, with a strong focus on engineering governance, technical assurance, systems integration and Model Based Systems Engineering

Key responsibilities include:

- Provide systems engineering management and technical leadership across complex capability initiatives
- Provide specialist engineering advice across capability development, acquisition, integration and sustainment
- Establish and coordinate engineering governance, technical reviews and engineering working groups
- Review and assure technical documentation, engineering artefacts and contractor deliverables
- Identify and manage engineering risks, issues and dependencies
- Assess system-of-systems integration requirements, interoperability and capability dependencies
- Support technical strategies, architectures, concepts and capability planning
- Support the adoption and application of MBSE




- Lead engineering transformation activities to improve traceability, interoperability and technical assurance
- Engage with senior government, industry and technical stakeholders
- Prepare technical reports, executive briefs, assessments and recommendations.

To be successful, you will have:

- Senior Systems Engineering leadership or management experience within Government or another complex technical environment
- Strong experience applying Systems Engineering across complex capability lifecycles
- Demonstrated experience in engineering governance, technical assurance and engineering risk management
- Experience reviewing and assuring complex engineering and technical artefacts
- Practical knowledge and experience with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
- Robust systems integration, interoperability and system-of-systems engineering experience
- Ability to provide senior technical and strategic engineering advice
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and executive-level communication skills
- A current NV1 security clearance or higher.

Highly regarded:

- Tertiary qualifications in Systems Engineering, Engineering, Computer Science, IT or a related discipline
- Formal Systems Engineering or MBSE qualifications/certifications
- Experience within complex capability management, acquisition, integration or sustainment environments
- Project, Program or Engineering Management qualifications
- Exposure to digital engineering, automation or AI-enabled engineering tools.
