You will be encouraged to take ownership and tackle challenging work, but you will not be expected to have every answer or work through difficult issues alone.

That support means working together on complex environmental and approvals issues, discussing project approaches, reviewing work and providing constructive feedback. It means having people to test your thinking with, learn from and turn to when a project becomes difficult. We want you to develop the technical capability, judgement and confidence to take on greater responsibility—not simply be given more work.

For an Environmental Consultant, this means opportunities to build your experience with guidance from people who know the work. For a Lead Environmental Consultant, it means the autonomy to lead projects and client relationships, backed by senior expertise when you need it.

Emerge continues to grow, with a diverse range of projects across the renewable energy, community development, transport, infrastructure, planning and mining sectors. We work with State and local government agencies and private sector clients, helping them navigate and secure environmental approvals and develop practical environmental management plans and strategies.





We are looking for smart, motivated people to join our team. We have two positions available, with appointments at either of the following levels:

- Environmental Consultant – typically 3–5 years’ relevant experience.
- Lead Environmental Consultant – typically 5–7 years’ relevant experience.

Positions can be based in our Subiaco or Margaret River offices. To be considered, you must have proven environmental approvals experience under Parts IV and V of the Western Australian EP Act and the Commonwealth EPBC Act. Prior consulting experience will be considered favourably but is not essential.

Essential experience

You must be able to demonstrate experience in:

- Preparing environmental approval documentation under the EP Act and EPBC Act.
- Preparing practical environmental management plans and strategies.
- Managing and coordinating technical environmental assessments.
- Building productive relationships with clients, regulators and other stakeholders.
- Working with multidisciplinary teams to solve environmental and approvals problems.




- Applicants for Lead Environmental Consultant must also demonstrate project leadership and the ability to manage project delivery and client relationships with a high degree of autonomy.

Essential skills and attributes

You will need:
- A strong work ethic and a track record of doing what you say you will do.
- Robust organisation and time-management skills.
- The ability to communicate clearly, both in writing and verbally.
- Critical thinking and sound judgement.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Self-motivation, initiative and a willingness to learn and act on feedback.

A relevant tertiary qualification in science, engineering, environmental management or a related discipline is also essential.
