Lead QAO's Local Government audit portfolio and influence how independent audit services are delivered across Queensland
OnTalent is proud to partner with the Queensland Audit Office (QAO) to appoint an Executive Director, Local Government.
This is a unique senior leadership opportunity that combines strategic sector leadership, oversight of significant audit engagements, and responsibility for shaping QAO’s delivery model, including QAO's Audit Service Provider network.
Queensland's Local Government sector is diverse, complex and continually evolving. Spanning metropolitan, regional and remote communities, it requires leaders who can navigate different operating environments while maintaining a clear focus on accountability, governance and audit quality.
Reporting to the Assistant Auditor-General, Financial Audit, the Executive Director will play an important role in helping QAO respond to emerging sector challenges, maintain trusted relationships across Local Government and the audit profession, and contribute to the long-term sustainability of audit delivery across Queensland.
What makes this opportunity particularly compelling is its breadth. The role offers the chance to engage with senior leaders across Local Government,
government and the audit profession while remaining connected to significant audit work and the issues that matter most to Queensland communities.
You will have the prospect to:
- Lead relationships across Queensland's Local Government sector
- Influence how audit services are delivered across the state
- Shape the future capability of QAO's Audit Service Provider network
- Provide advice on emerging risks, trends and opportunities
- Contribute to the strategic direction of a respected integrity organisation
- Support better public services through accountability, transparency and independent assurance.
We are seeking an accomplished external-audit leader who combines strong professional judgement with the ability to build credibility across a broad stakeholder landscape. Experience working with, auditing or advising Local Government entities will be highly regarded.
