At the Queensland Audit Office (QAO), their work helps build confidence in how public resources are managed and how services are delivered to Queensland communities.
OnTalent is proud to partner with QAO to appoint an Executive Director, Local Government.
This is a rare opportunity to lead an audit portfolio that reaches every corner of Queensland. From major metropolitan councils to regional and remote communities, you will audit and support a sector that is diverse, complex and constantly evolving.
Reporting to the Assistant Auditor-General, Financial Audit, you'll shape how Local Government audit is delivered across the state. You will work closely with the Auditor-General and Executive Leadership Team to provide strategic advice on sector developments, emerging risks and the future direction of audit delivery. You'll also build relationships with senior leaders and oversee significant audit engagements that support public confidence and accountability.
Just as importantly, you'll help shape the future of QAO's delivery model, including its Audit Service Provider network, ensuring the capability, capacity and partnerships are in place to support high-quality audit outcomes across Queensland.

About You You are an accomplished external-audit leader who combines strong professional judgement with demonstrated experience leading people, strategy, and organisational outcomes.
You bring the ability to lead through influence, manage competing priorities and build trusted relationships across broad stakeholder groups.
You may come from a professional services firm, an audit office or another complex assurance environment. Regardless of background, you bring credibility, commercial awareness and a practical leadership style.
Experience working with, auditing or advising Local Government entities will be highly regarded.
Adaptable working arrangements, including part-time, will be considered for the right candidate.
