ACEREZ is a consortium, comprised of ACCIONA, COBRA and Endeavour Energy which has been appointed Preferred Network Operator by EnergyCo to design, deliver, operate and maintain the transmission line network for the Central-West Orana Renewable Energy Zone (CWO REZ).
The new state‑of‑art transmission infrastructure, which will combine high‑capacity transmission lines, digitally enabled energy hubs and related infrastructure, will enable generators such as solar and wind farms and energy storage providers in the CWO REZ to connect to the electricity grid, providing a reliable supply of clean, affordable electricity for households and businesses across NSW while helping to meet the state’s newly legislatedNet Zerotargets.
THE OPPORTUNITY
As Transmission Line Assets Engineer, you will report to the Assets Manager and lead the transition of transmission line assets from construction to operations. You will oversee maintenance planning, monitor asset performance and provide strategic leadership in asset lifecycle management, working closely with many stakeholders.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position will:
- Develop and implement Transmission Line Asset Management strategies aligned with ISO 55001 principles
- Lead the transition of assets from construction to operations, ensuring integration into M&L; systems
- Oversee the development and execution of maintenance plans in line with safety protocols and operational standards
- Continuously monitor asset performance, identify gaps and implement corrective measures
- Support network planning with internal stakeholders, network operators and generators
- Manage right-of-way maintenance and vegetation clearing programs, ensuring regulatory compliance and reducing bushfire risk
- Implement bushfire risk mitigation strategies, including thermal inspections and emergency response planning
- Produce high-quality management and performance reports with actionable insights and recommendations
- Lead asset risk assessments and conduct operational audits and compliance monitoring
- Oversee compliance with the Project Deed for all asset management activities
- Serve as the primary point of contact for transmission line-related incidents, investigations and inquiries
- Share expertise with M&L; personnel, particularly field-based teams, on asset management best practice
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical or related engineering field; CPEng (current or working towards)
- Certification or membership in asset management (e.g. IAM, GFMAM, AM Council) desirable
- In-depth understanding of HV/EHV overhead transmission networks and transmission line assets, including conductors (ACSR, AAAC, HTLS), towers, poles, insulators, shield wires and OPGW
- Experience in condition assessment and predictive, preventive and corrective maintenance of transmission lines
- Proficiency in structural and mechanical analysis of towers and poles, including load and sag‑tension analysis (PLS‑CADD, PLS‑TOWER, PLS‑POLE)
- Knowledge of AS/NZS 7000, 2067 and 3000, IEC and IEEE standards, and ISO 9001, 14001, 45001 and 55001
- Experience with risk assessment frameworks and incident investigation
- Proficiency in life‑cycle cost analysis and CAPEX/OPEX optimisation
- Robust expertise in vegetation management, right‑of‑way clearance and bushfire risk mitigation
- Experience with Enterprise Asset Management Systems (EAMS), SCADA and GIS mapping tools
- Excellent stakeholder management, negotiation and communication skills
- Valid NSW Driver's Licence and Construction White Card
